NBC announces webisodes of Office and Heroes

Kevin Malone and SylarNBC announced today that webisodes for The Office and Heroes would officially premiere on NBC.com starting in July. Seems like all that chit-chat that led to the WGA Strike cease-fire is finally showing some results.

The Office webisodes will premiere first in early July and will focus on Kevin's gambling issues and how he plans to pay for his debts. We got a taste of his competitive side in this past week's episode when he started betting on holes at the golf course. The summer series will also feature Stanley, Oscar, and Darryl. This is the second series of webisodes for The Office, which premiered The Accountants back in the summer of 2006.

The Heroes webisodes will air in mid-July with the premiere "Manhunt." NBC was scant on details for this, except to say that a new villain will be introduced and that the web series will lead right up to the third season premiere. No word on whether or not any stars from the TV show will make guest appearances.

So what does everyone think of this? Honestly, I'm not too psyched. While I love both of these shows, webisodes tend to be of much lesser quality than the series themselves. Plus, they never tie directly into a show or have serious implications because, believe it or not, some folks still don't have Internet access. To chastise those fans is something that networks don't seem ready to do... yet. I'm sure these can be skipped over without having to play much (if any) catch-up when the new seasons premiere in the fall.

I'll be keeping an eye on this. At least it's something to tide over the fans until September.

reminds me of the tardisodes for doctor who. They weren't worth watching.

New Heroes Webisodes Promo
Source: Superhero Hype!
July 8, 2008

NBC has brought online this promo for its upcoming "Heroes" Webisodes titled "Going Postal" that kick-off on July 14th. The three-part series kicks-off with "A Nifty Trick," with new episodes rolling out on subsequent Mondays. It features Echo De Mille, a seemingly ordinary mailman with an extraordinary ability. Visitors to this year's Comic-Con, will get a sneak peak at the epic conclusion at the "Heroes" panel on Saturday, July 26.

So...are there only going to be only three webisodes? Or just three about this mailman?

Either way, I hope they're good. I really like the graphic novels, which are basically what this is, except this has actors. It shows us that people are getting powers all over the world without putting them in the actual series (aka. It's what should've been done with West/Alejandro/Maya)

i think its just 3 webisodes of the mailman. and then they'll start another series of webisodes with another character.

i agree with you that Maya and Alejandro should been shown in a webisode than the actual series cause their story was barely interesting to everything else that happened in Volume 2. However, West should have never been written or be anywhere related with Heroes; he was lame character imo.

does anybody know how to watch the first webisode in canada? i really want to see it but it is only available in the states :(

For those who can't watch it, don't get too upset. It's not really all that great, anyway. It's only about three minutes long, and two out of three characters that are introduced are annoying (in my opinion, obviously). The constrictor looked like a moron with all his gyrations. Echo, the screaming guy, was all right though.

at least, one of those annoying characters is [blackout]dead[/blackout].

Anyone else notice the slightly over the top product placement with the Iphone?

You're right, in that that was product placement, but you're wrong about the iPhone. Sprint is a huge sponsor of Heroes, and that was the Samsung Instinct that Constrictor Guy was using, exclusive to Sprint. iPhones are exclusive to AT&T.

I thought Maya/Alejandro sucked too but Im willing to give Maya a second chance in the next season. She can potential be interesting but the writers really screwed up her charecter.
West sucks and I agree he should have never been written, worst charecter ever on Heroes imo.
Monica was so under used...even though I still love her, they better use her more in season 3.

By the way this webisode was....eighhh :o
The company man WAS annoying and I cannot stand the villain...really, you can squeze people...is that really a power?... I think that should be concidered super strength, if you can squeze a person to death you're super strong but yeah he sucks. The echo guy is okay though. I hope they do more than 3 webisodes though although I am more of a fan of the graphic novels.

that webisode sucked. I am disappointed, not with NBC or Heroes, but with humanity as a whole. And why the hell....
would the bad guy say that his partner is called "a constrictor," like anyone else has ever or will ever also share that same lame power! Or like they would even bother classifying it, it's a stupid power!.... unless of course the show ends up with no special effects budget like this crap-isode, then there might be all kinds of constrictors all of a sudden.

The new webisode been posted on Youtube yet? cus I can't find it.

This is the website for the webisodes

I'm ambivalent about the webisodes so far. The main guy seems to be a good actor, but the script so far is just not giving him much to work with. Starting off with his discovery of his powers was a bad move. I don't give a s*** about the guy as a person because the only context we've seen him in is as a guy with powers. Plus, that "constrictor" guy is just so unbelievably terrible as a villain. He's not scary at all; he's the kind of character I'd expect SNL to come up with as a parody of Heroes, not a character fit for the show itself.

I will say this, though: the main dude's girlfriend is smoking hot.

This webisode was better than the first, but that one wasn't that good, so that's not saying much. And I agree the Constrictor seems like a parody villain. Terrible. Hopefully, that situation is solved now by what happens in webisode 2.

Yeah, I'm a little more excited with the chase formula they've set up by the end of part 2. A dude and his super-hot girlfriend running from people who want to brainwash/dissect him is a pretty good idea for a web series.

By the way, did I mention that his girlfriend is amazingly hot?
