As most of you know, I have declared my intentions on running for President of the United States. Now I'm not going to fill my introduction with fluff material such as my biography. It's utterly unremarkable. I'm an average man who was an average student in school and has a mediocre job. My most experience with government is being a part of Model UN, so I'm not a man of massive experience like J. Man Spice and my current opponent, StorminNorman.

However, I intend on running because I feel that I can deliver real change to this country. A new revolution to restore this nation to that of the ideals the Founding Fathers intended. I want to bring back the era of prosperity to this great country. I want to return the Republican Party back to its roots of fiscal responsibility, smaller government, and freedom for all. I want to be the President of the people and not for special interests and megacorporations.

I will be honest and truthful with every question you provide me. I will run a clean campaign and shy away from any mudslinging, even if mud is slung in my direction. I will bring integrit back to campaigning.

Hippie Hunter on the Environment
- As President of the United States I would make the Environmental Protection Agency a Cabinet level department known as the Department of Environmental Protection.

- The emission standards for automobiles in this nation are downright pathetic and embarrassing. As president I would submit legislation to Congress to increase emission standards to the emission standards of Euro 6 by 2018.

- I will not submit the Kyoto Protocol for ratification in the Senate. While the ideals of the Kyoto Protocol are indeed noble, the treaty itself is horribly flawed. Nations such as Russia have the opportunity to simply profit off the treaty. Nations such as China are given special exemptions from the treaty. The only nation that would have to take any serious actions would be the United States and is designed to where nations like Venezuela, Syria, Iran, North Korea and others can use it to try and punish the United States under the guise of environmentalism. Not only that but the treaty is subject to be expired and replaced by 2012 and the Senate already turned down the treaty before President Bill Clinton submitted it to Congress.

- Instead of submitting the Kyoto Protocol for ratification, I will submit legislation to implement the ideals and goals of the Kyoto Protocol within a realistic time frame for the United States and without worries of other nations abusing it to punish the United States.

- I will pressure China to step up its efforts to help preserve the environment and combat the dangers of climate change.

Hippie Hunter's Energy Policy
We are now living in a day and age where gasoline now costs over $4.00 per gallon and a barrel of oil is likely to reach $150.00. Our economy is on the verge of a recession due to the high costs of oil and our addictive dependency on it. The costs of transportation, just to get to work are demanding to the people. The costs of transportation is increasing the costs of goods that everyday Americans need such as food. The costs of transportation are increasing the costs of labor to where small business owners must raise their prices just to stay profitable. And these rises in costs can all attribute to the unecessarily high cost of gasoline.

As President I would:

- Begin a thorough investigation on the oil corporations to determine whether or not price gouging is occuring. It's rather sickening to see that ExxonMobile make over $400 billion in revenue and make over $40 billion in income. It is sickening to see a prince of Saudi Arabia purchase a diamond studded car. If such price gouging is occuring I will force them to lower their prices and they will be punished accordingly.

- While I am opposed to price caps, I would apply heavy pressure on the oil corporations to lower their prices (as evident by their profits, they can afford it) and would consider to subsidize and lower taxes on gasoline to help ease the pressure of everyday Americans by lowering gas prices. I will also end policies which contribute to higher energy costs such as tariffs on ethanol, temporarily stop filling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to ease demand, and more.

- As President, the government will invest in new energy technologies such as nuclear power while discovering a way to safely dispose of the wastes and renewable energy sources such as hydro, solar, and wind. I will create a Manhattan Project for new energy sources and offer an X-Prize to companies and individuals who develop new energy technologies.

- In order to obtain a more sustainable energy policy, we must ease our dependence on foreign oil, particularly that of the Middle East.

Hippie Hunter on Immigration

- I am opposed to building a fence along the United States/Mexico border. Originally I supported such a thing, but over time it came to my head that it is a waste of money and if we built a fence along Mexico's border, we'd have apply the same standards to Canada and do the same along with that. Instead of building a fence, we should build the virtual fence that has been proposed in the past along with having a much larger Border Patrol and a larger National Guard force deployed. I will not tolerate vigilante groups like the Minutemen patrolling the border. If they want to help take part in curbing illegal immigration, they can do it the legitimate way by joining the Border Patrol.

- As for illegal immigration itself, the problem doesn't lie with the immigrants. The reason why they come here is the very same reason why my ancestors have come here from Western Europe hundreds of years ago and the very same reason why immigrants from the late 1800's came here. They come here for oppourtunity and employment not offered by their home countries. In order to curb illegal immigration we need to take two steps:

1. We need to come down harder on employers who knowingly and willingly hire illegal immigrants. This is the main source of why immigrants come here illegally. We need to impose stricter punishments on those who hire illegal immigrants and do a better job on finding those who hire them. I also propose in creating a database in which an employee must give their Social Security number to their employer (which most do already) and the employer will type that Social Security number into the database to see if it is a valid form of ID.

2. We need to make it easier for people to migrate to the United States. We need to do a better job in promoting legal immigration, guest worker programs, etc. We need to ease up on some of the restrictions that are placed upon them from being here legally. My two major requirements for a person to become a naturalized citizen of the United States will be that they have a relatively clean criminal record and they must know how to speak English so they can be productive members of American society. As President, I too will create a guest worker program very similar to what Mr. J. Man Spice has proposed. I will make this program very accessable to those who want to come to this country. With the illegal immigrants who are already in the country, this program will be just as accessable to them as well. They will have one year to apply to this program or face deportation.

- I will also support a Constitutional amendment that makes English the official language of the United States.

Let's face it, we can't just deport every single illegal immigrant out there. There are far too many of them and our economy is dependent on them to where if we did manage to kick them all out, it would be devastated. We need to take the illegal immigration debate to a realistic solution. Not having a silly one like letting them all come in or booting them all out of the country.

Hippie Hunter on Abortion
Personally I would prefer not to touch upon this issue with a 20 foot pole. For some rediculous reason this is still an issue in American politics when it shouldn't. But worst of all almost everyone sees this as a black and white issue that has the simple solution of banning abortion or having free for all abortions. Frankly this is not this case, this is a grey issue where the only possible solution is not going to make everyone happy.

As President, I will ensure that the ruling of Roe v. Wade is upheld. Overturning it would create a public health crisis of epic proportions as women who want an abortion will get one anyways.

However, this does not mean that I am condoning abortion. It is ethically and morally wrong. The fetus growing inside the mother's womb is indeed a living organism. And it isn't an god given right that so many pro-choice activists make it out to be.

I support realistic restrictions on abortion such as having parental consent for minors having abortions, making sure that certain procedures are banned or restricted such as partial birth aboritions and abortions for the third trimester and such.

We also need to make our sexual education and abstinence programs more effective to raise awareness on what unprotected sex can do and the effects it causes.

Like what I'm hearing so far...good stuff

Update, included my proposed immigration policies

You're off to a great start here Hip-Hip. Looking forward to more updates and explanations of policy from you.

Bump, I have returned to active campaigining and have updated my platform.

I'm far more interested in the Republican race than the Democratic. Excel vs Jman is like a third grader vs a PhD in Poli-sci. You and Norman on the other hand are very well matched and both very smart. Should be fun to watch.

That's not very nice Matt! :funny:

Regardless, welcome back to active campaigning Hippie!

Well...in all fairness I say it more as a compliment to jman than an insult to Excel

That's not very nice Matt! :funny:

Sometimes, the truth is not all that nice.

Which is why I have launched my new ad, entitled "Qualified."

Hippie Hunter, how will you move forward and end the negative stigma attached to being Republican?

Hippie Hunter, how will you move forward and end the negative stigma attached to being Republican?

The GOP brand has been horribly tainted by three simple factors:

1. It's pretty obvious that the policies and attitudes of President George W. Bush have influenced how Americans view the Republican Party today. I will be different than President Bush. I will not be as secretive as President Bush. I will not have the arrogant attitude of President Bush nor will I go off thinking that I can do whatever I want because I have the military of the United States to back me. President Bush has steered this nation in the wrong way and I want to bring it back on the right course and direction.

2. Corruption has plagued the Republican Party. I have no ties to special interests, lobbyists, and whatnot. I will not allow myself to become as corrupt like so many of my Republican counterparts in office. If a member of my administration is corrupt, I will promptly remove them. I will clamp down heavily on corruption just like Alaska Governor Sarah Palin did, who also happens to be a Republican.

3. The Republican Party has lost its way. We used to be the party of fiscal responsiblity, a strong defense, low taxes, and small government. Sure we're still the party of a strong defense and low taxes, but we lost our stance on small government and fiscal responsibilty. I will return the Republican Party back to its roots by fighting for smaller government and fiscal responsibility, away from the neo-conservative evangellical image it has created. I won't trample upon the Constitution. I won't piss away money we don't have. I won't increase the size of government like President Bush has done.

Today I was planning on updating my platform with my positions on civil rights, but dramatic changes to this election have put that off to tommorrow unfortunately.

Today we have all received news that Democratic candidate Excel has withdrawn from the race. Since nothing has come from Byrd Man since he declared his candidacy, it can be very safe to assume that Mr. J. Man Spice will become the Democratic nominee in the upcomming election.

I would like to take the time to congratulate my good friend Mr. Spice. It's nice to see that a New Yorker has ended up with the nomination. Hopefully there will be two, when all is said an done. If I obtain the nomination, I will look forward to running against him in the general election with intense excitement.

I like your points, HH. Not only that, but you have Batman in your avvy. You have my vote.:word:
