I am not a huge fan of hardcovers either, but I do tolerate them for the bonus material

Almost everything, but not everything. The Premiere format (smaller HCs) has only been around awhile at Marvel. For instance, they didn't do it with the current Captain America ongoing. But they did do Premiere HCs (atleast the first volume) of the Iron Man ongoing that began in the same month (same day aswell if I'm not mistaken) as the Captain America ongoing (even though the Cap book is somewhere around 10 issues further due to delays on the IM book).

really? hmmm i know everything Civil war is... every thing astonishing does, young avengers, runaways, new avengers... not sure if many main titles do though.. cuz come to think of it... i dont think Amazing spider-man or uncanny X-men does... they do come out in big collective hard covers though
