A few months ago I caught "Be Cool" on TV. I liked the idea of the business of Hollywood in a film. But then I thought, 'Wouldn't it be fun if instead of fictional characters, there would be real actors playing themselves in fictional situations with fictional personalities?' This script shows how Hollywood takes its toll on its actors from a fictional but amusing way. Think satire. But don't think Tropic Thunder. It's not a jungle. Hollywood is the jungle. There are two main plots. Both are with a set of friends/celebrities trying to prove themselves, the other two are more like subplots. I chose my six main actors for these stories. There are cameos from both actors and directors that accompany those stories.
Here is the outline. It's rough since I just typed it this morning. This isn't final, though I think I picked the right actors.
PLOT: This idea is a satire on the wrongs of Hollywood and what how it takes a toll on its actors. There are no characters, the actors in real life are thrown into these fictional situations.
CAST OF ACTORS:
LEONARDO DICAPRIO - Secretly a drug dealer in Hollywood. Tobey, his long time friend comes to him, needing to find a way to reboot his career. DiCaprio convinces him to join him in the drug dealing business. When Leo gives the drugs to the buyers, Tobey, in his Spider-Man suit stops them. Making him a hero, getting the role back. Sounds stupid, but Tobey does it anyway.
TOBEY MAGUIRE - Alternative is where Tobey never got to do a forth Spider-Man film. A scene where he meets with the studio and Sam Raimi where where they break it to him that he can no longer play Spider-Man. The studio says he’s too old. His friend, Leonardo DiCaprio comes to him with a plan to get back the role. Tobey still has the Spider-Man suit at home. He’s sometimes seen with it on, caught by his wife once.
RUSSEL CROWE - Is in anger management classes. He hits director Ridley Scott because there are no decapitations in the film they are working on. And him and Russell are doing another romantic comedy. He tries to escape the facility.
MICHAEL KEATON - An underrated actor who hasn’t had a hit in a long time. We meet him at a comic convention when he reluctantly agrees to do round-abouts with Christian Bale, George Clooney and Val Kilmer. They all begin to compare their Batman’s and a shouting match ensues. Desperate for another hit, he breaks into Tim Burton’s house and asks if they do a Beetle Juice 2. The Hawaiian one. When Burton refuses, he asks if they want to do a Batman 3. Keaton does a whole Batman routine in front of Burton.
GEORGE CLOONEY - Bored of fame an womanizing, George goes to Brad Pitt telling him that the two should pull off a Ocean’s 14 heist. But they rob a grocery store instead. **** happens, and him and Brad are chased across LA. Gets drunk one night and tells of his experiences on "Batman and Robin."
BRAD PITT - George comes to him to pull off a Ocean’s 14 heist. Pitt is going through a mid-life crisis, knowing he isn’t the stud he used to be. Angelina Jolie leaves him for another man. He accepts Clooney’s proposition. The heist turns out to be a grocery store robbery and everything goes from there. The cops, unaware of who their chasing, chase them across LA.
CAMEOS:
JAVIOR BARDEM - Opening scene in the film. He goes in the grocery store, wanting to pick up a newspaper and milk. The cashier notices he played Anton Chirugh in "No Country For Old Men." The cashier gives him a quarter and jokes. Bardem kills the cashier, stashing him in beer room underneath the stacked shelves. This scene is to demonstare how actors hate being associated with a single famous role.
SAMUEL L. JACKSON - Complains about his 1000th film. He complains about how he just wants an Academy Award. Somewhere in one of these films he has to get a nomination, right?
RIDLEY SCOTT - Russel Crowe punches him for not having decapitations in the film. They are doing another romantic comedy.
SAM RAIMI - He’s meeting with Tobey for another Spider-Man film. From everything he said about not wanting to do another without him, he lied. Tobey says he won’t ask for anymore raises in his salary. But Raimi tells him he hired Shia Labeouf for Spider-Man. An enraged Maguire leaves, telling him he didn’t try in Spider-Man 3.
SHIA LABEOUF - Tobey sneaks in Shia’s trailer one day while working on the film and tries to give him advice about the role. Shia kindly tells him he doesn’t want any advice. Tobey punches him in the face and runs out of the trailer. Goes back to Leo and accepts.
IDEA THAT MAY BE CUT:
ROBERT DENIRO - Is accidently thrown into a mafia hit.
MARTIN SCORSESE - The director is actually involved with the mob. He goes to DeNiro for help.
