Well, that's probably an exaggeration but this is a good sign:

"Feige talked a bit more about Captain America: "We'll have to play with Captain America as being a patriotic propoganda machine on one hand but also being a very human Steve Rogers interesting fascinating hero in his own right." Is the script they're developing a period piece? "Right now what we're developing would be about half and half."

That's exactly how I prayed they would do it. I was kind of worried that they would decide to either completely modernize it, which would suck, or completely a period piece, which I know a lot of people wanted, but that would have quite frankly ignored a big part of the character's appeal to me. This should be pretty great, and obviously he'll probably be thawed out in modern times like the Ultimate version rather than just 20 years later.

But I guess from the way they're talking it's going to be Cap/Thor in 2009 then, huh? I'm mildly disappointed since I was really excited about seeing Edgar Wright do Ant-Man in 2009, but Thor's cool so I guess I can wait another year for that.

Not liking the idea of how that would turn out

Well that's pretty much what he is though, isn't he? Especially in the 40s. I can see how you might have a problem with that though. But I like the idea of this big archaic patriotic symbol being reintroduced into today's world, and how the world would react to that, and how he himself would react to the world today. Pretty intriguing stuff, I think.

Not liking that idea? Man how can you not love that idea?!

Captain America. World War II. Red fckin' Skull! Putting my money down on that right now.

Then, just like in the comics- gets frozen, gets awakened in our times... all of the possibilities are endless!

Man this film is going to be epic!

Whose directing? Please tell me we have an amazing director behind this thing... come on, just one last thing to cement this as being the next huge MARVEL film.

Don´t like the idea of him being a patriotic propaganda machine in todays time mostly cause of the cheesy factor it could have with all the American pride stuff going on

I don't know much about Cap, but during WWII times- wasn't he a "patriotic propoganda machine" as well as soldier?

So, I think it would be great if they did show that during WWII times- if my assumption is accurate- and then show him trying to adapt to today's times.

So I think they will take the patriotism sincere and seriously. I mean, a movie about Captain America has to be patriotic! So as long as they take that seriously, it's all good.

He was the first supersoldier, created to fight the Nazis; after Project Rebirth ended in blood and fire, he was left the only one, and so he was turned into a superhero "Captain America" to counter the Red Skull, the Nazis' own symbol.

That's actually one thing that they should touch on: Cap was never intended, when he was selected, to be "Captain America." He wasn't meant to be unique. He was meant to be the first of a million supersoldiers. It was only after he was left the only one that he became a superhero morale-booster.

The way to look at him is: he's a New Deal Democrat idealist, who worships FDR, and has a very liberal, optimistic view of America's future. It's also important that he not be blind to America's flaws in his era (treatment of African-Americans, for instance; when he arrives in the future, he should see that as confirmation that America is improving itself, to set against other areas where he might find things have gotten worse).

Yeah, I know that- but, he was sort of like a cool version of Uncle Sam during the WWII times, right? Keeping patriotic hope alive?

Yes as long as they take the patriotism seriously and don´t go over the top by making it super cheesy then it´s all good

I am holding out hope that we get Steven Spielburg or Clint Eastwood attached. That would be AWESOME. For those wondering about Clint Eastwood, see 'Flags of our Fathers' or 'Letters from Iwo Jima'.

I also don't think making Cap into a patriotic propaganda machine in the movie would be cheesy either. I can also see a lot of the older crowd going to see this movie as well, because in my mind Cap is not just a superhero but an icon, a living and breathing symbol of what went on in WWII. Superman was international, he fought for everybody but Cap was America's pride and joy, the original poster boy that brought strength to the country during its harsh times.

It could be cheesy if not done correctly and not taken seriously

Exactly, that's why- imo- if this film does go as good as it is sounding now... this is the one hero we could, imo, get an academy award worthy film from. And if all goes well, I seriously do think that we could a director like Spielburg or Eastwood (who I would especially like to see take on this film).

Just wondering on who you guys are looking at as possible directors?

We'll probably be hearing of a director shortly. I'd say definitely before the years out and probably even before then.

I too love the idea of him being used a sort of propaganda machine because you just know that at some point there's going to be a plot point where they try to use his image to justify something that he feels is wrong and won't be a part of, and then all hell will break loose like in Civil War and he'll be a fugitive on the run fighting for his ideals and against the very government he fought bravely to protect 60 years prior.

I honestly like the idea of showing him as propoganda for the 40s, but when he arrives to our time I think it should be a harsh realization that America isn't loved all around like it was used to be, and adjusting to the time with Terrorists, the country split up into differences, etc.

I like the idea of him being frozen and awaken in two movies. Cap has pretty much two origins, so to do it back-to-back time periods, they would probably have to go right into WWII (not discuss his origin there), and have a flashback in the present time.

Remember, Cap WWII is more than a blip in Cap's history. It is a very important part, and I'd rather see it done in two movies.

To do it in one I think you need the movie to be around 2hr and 20mins, so you can dedicate over an hour to each time period.

this film looks like its going to be a one man 300 type film...that doesn't die

Doing cap in WW2 in the first movie is the only way to go. Then in either the Avengers movie or Cap2 have him be thawed out and show how he adjusts to the mondern world.

I just hope they don't f*** up his costume by making it burgundy, white and blue when it's supposed to be RED, white and blue.

Or make it black and red and just call him The Captain because we don't want to offend our friends in the Middle East who don't like America.

Note to Hollywood I didn't mean for this to be an idea. Please don't do this.

GREAT! That also what I wanted 50/50! Although I must disagree with you to have a ANT MAN MOVIE BEFORE THOR??? Please no...

It's nothing to do with not liking America though, is it. I think what we'll see is the pretty standard outfit, but instead of bright red gloves and boots, I think they'll be brown. However, there'll be hell to pay if they mess with the sheild.

They better reference the black Captain America experiments!!!So my "Truth: the red, white, and black" can go up in value.:whatever:

It's not really about Ant Man. It's the fact that Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) is going to direct it. That alone make it 10 times more exciting to me than just about any other Super Hero movie coming out.
