Hong Kong Billionaire Offers 120 Million Dollars To Turn His Daughter Straight

A Hong Kong billionaire is so serious about making his lesbian daughter straight, he has doubled his original offer to any man who can get the job done.

That's $120 million dollars for compelling a 33-year-old woman who's in a happy, long-term relationship to choose a life of unhappy heterosexual matrimony.

The target, Gigi Chao, has expressed no desire to become straight whatsoever. And, in fact, has repeatedly pleaded with her father to stop meddling with her sexuality.

But father knows best?

"I don't want to interfere with my daughter’s private life," Cecil told Malaysian newspaper Nanyang Siang Pau on Monday. "I only hope for her to have a good marriage and children as well as inherit my business."

Chao made international headlines back in September 2012, when he offered a princely sum of $60 million to any man who could change his daughter.

"She can choose whatever she wants," the 76-year-old tycoon -- who has reputedly slept with more than 10,000 women -- told the Financial Times in January 2013. "But anyone who comes along to pursue Gigi, we will give them a moderately deluxe life. I would not force her to marry a man. But obviously I would, from my point of view, prefer her to be married and to have grandchildren.”

That offer resulted in some 20,000 suitors lining up for a crack at converting her, according to Time.

Naturally, the courting frenzy didn't sit too well with Gigi, who is a prominent gay rights activist and founding member of Hong Kong-based Big Love Alliance.

"My partner Sean is upset about the public's reaction," she told HK Magazine last year. "She tries to brush it off most of the time, but she's quite upset. For every relationship, it's not really just a one-sided thing. For Sean, she is getting over a lot of emotional issues that she has with my parents."

Instead of backing off, however, Cecil Chao has redoubled his efforts to convert his daughter -- a campaign that Gigi is weathering with surprising poise.

'I understand that he loves me," she told the Daily Mail. "It's just he’s from another time and it's difficult for him to understand the plight of the LGBT.

"At the office it's business as usual. At family gatherings we hug and dance. And we just agree to disagree on what marriage is and family is."

I wonder what the big deal is? If it's a matter of having an heir then they've done magic with science by using in vitro fertilization without having an opposite sex donor. Look at Neil Patrick Harris and his partner, they did that with a surrogate mother and it turned out the twins they had was due to each one of them. I have two friends ( guy&girl) both gay who do this and it seems to work out well. It is only to keep the guy in the relationship in the closet to his family.

I doubt she would be getting an inheritance if her dad is trying to buy her into being straight.

He is a billionaire and I can't imagine that he gets turned down by many people for very long so he may just be hoping she changes her mind. As it is though I think he's just a bit scared the family line won't continue and would end with her.I know that certain families consider that near sacrilege to the family name if it's intentional.

This is a far different time, though. There are societies where it is acceptable for men to rape lesbians to "turn them straight" and there are plenty of males who buy into that repulsive concept. I have a friend who was nearly raped by an acquaintance who decided that she "acted gay" and needed to be forced into sex to prove she liked men. That happens more than people realize. This guy could be buying his daughter a personal security nightmare if he inspires some sick bastard to try to collect this bounty by forcing himself on her.

Marcus Bachmann is about as straight as Liberace. He and Lindsey Graham might be the most painfully obviously flaming gay anti-gay people around right now.

Though I maintain no one is as obsessed with gay sex as Fred Phelps without having a bad experience with it once upon a time. Some older man deflowered poor naive Fred and then left him with a broken heart that turned slowly into an all-consuming bitterness and hatred. So tragic.
