Rogue Pictures, the genre arm of Universal-based Focus Features, has made a three-year first-look deal with Platinum Dunes, the company behind such recent horror remakes as "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "The Amityville Horror" and the upcoming "The Hitcher" reports Variety.

Producers Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form will produce fright fare budgeted under $25 million and receive as much as 10% of first-dollar gross.

The deal kicks off with a remake of "Near Dark," the 1987 pic about a cowboy wooed into joining a roving band of vampires which Samuel Bayer is attached to direct early next year.

The deal is expected to include the remake of 1987 pic "The Changeling", though NOT the new adaptation of "The Birds" for Universal Pictures or the aforementioned "Hitcher".
