okay, the search feature sucks hard white ass on this site... and i don't feel like going through all the pages to find the thread i know already exists on this movie...

... but, i just saw this, and holy crap! i loved it! if it weren't for blades of glory, knocked up, and superbad, i'd say this was one of the funniest movies i've seen this year, or even the year before.

it's just so damn random... it's like napoleon dynamite meets a judd apatow movie.

i wish this didn't get such 'blah' reviews', because i might have actually seen it in the real theatres. but yeah, i loved it. i lolled so hard on numerous occasions.

Blades of Glory? C'mon. It was kindof funny on the first viewing in the theater, and not funny at all the second time around....

And I didn't get a chance to see Hot Rod, but I've heard a lot of mixed things about it so I'll wait for the rental.

I liked Hot Rod, but it wasn't nearly as amazing as I thought it would be.

I have LOVED everything The Dudes have done and a little over 3 years ago I had burned a DVD of their shorts as well as their two mock sitcom episodes to show a bunch of my friends at college.

There were some things that worked. I loved the relationship between Rod and his father as well as his little brother. The idea of the plot (raising money for heart surgery for his father so that he can properly kick his ass and become a real man) was hilarious. However, in execution, it fell a little flat. There were some great moments of comedy, but all in all, less than half the jokes stuck and brought out a laugh. The ones that did though got guffaws (not just ANY laugh, a friggin guffaw!). I loved Chris Parnell and Will Arnett in their small roles. I thought Isla Fischer was poorly used though. It felt as if she were there more for eye candy and plot convenience rather than to showcase any comedy skills (which we know she has!).

I don't know. I wanted to love it so much, but came out of the theater a little disappointed. I wasn't upset, because it was still pretty funny. Yet, it in no possible way, can match the minute-for-minute laughter that ensues when I watch that DVD of The Bu, The Lonely Island mock-sitcom, and their numerous other shorts.

It's probably worth watching if you're a fan of irreverent comedy. If you see it and enjoy it a little bit, I'd definitely reccomend checking out the Lonely Island website and watching everything that came before Hot Rod.

hot rod is only funny to those who like pretty simple humor... i wouldn't have missed anything if i hadn't seen it, sure it had its funny moments... but most of its humorous moments were in moments where your like "omg this is stupid" or "i can't believe they just did that, stupid"

I loved Hot Rod. It was like Mr. Credible said, so random, yet so funny too. I especially loved the cool beans scene. Most random yet hilarious thing I've seen in a long time.

actually, the cool beans thing was the only part of the movie i didn't like.

i can't believe people actually didn't like the movie, though.

it's literally one of the funniest movies i've seen in the last few years. the 80's montages? the wonderful one-liners? isla fisher? the "making a man crap his pants without him knowing why" move?

all gold.
