How about a new look for the \S/?

We've seen all sorts of different depictions of the S shield over the years...

What do you think is the best and worst... and if you're up to it, how would you redesign the \S/ for a new Superman movie? A new generation of fans could see this as the definitive shield, like so many of us have done with the Superman we grew up with.

I would like to see something with slightly sharper angles. A little more streamlined and "modern" (for the lack of better words).

The symbol is really nice but I would think it is too... ""elegant" for superman. Thats the only word I could think of. It just seems like a more feminine type logo. Could work for Supergirl

Although I think the SR shield is the perfect modernization - with it's three dimensional look and feel. I do like this design if they go for more of a cloth design.

Welcome... I've seen similar design esp. in Kingdom Come storyline and I understand the desire of some fans to 'modernize' the costume but imho trying to reduce the curves of the \S/ reminds me of a NOT symbol.

It would be very interesting though if Snyder's story sortof provide an explanation or insight how the \S/ in the uniform came to be since there's no S in the Kryptonian written language being symbolic in nature. For instance, if the story ends up indicating that it has to be distinguishable by the humans in the story as a letter when viewed from afar then it makes sense to have the design retain the 'curves' rather than a slash

I always thought it would be interesting if he actually started out without an \S/ symbol. Perhaps Lois suggests it to him, or clark overhears her talking about it in the DP, after she coins the term ''superman''.
Or, maybe clark sees her doodling an \S/ on his superman suit thats in a news pic, and he goes from there.
I think an explanation as simple as that would work.

Agreed. If ever Snyder does that and goes slightly further (warning: nit-picking territory now ) to show the \S/ is made of Kryptonian material so that it is as soft as any cloth but strong as metal, then that'll be sweet! The point is that the message should be similar to that when Bale in BB is experimenting with his batarang and cowl design....
