Okay, so... Godzilla looks friggin' awesome, and superhero movies are huge. Is this the right time for Jack Shindo's alter ego to appear in a big budget film?

Ultraman has always been a bit a bit of an oddity... not nearly as popular as Godzilla but I think there is a lot of potential there for a great film. What do you think? Could/should a studio give it a chance?

still remember the Ultraman SNES game.

I always thought that game was cool, and I remember buying the action figures around that time.

so........I'd be for a movie!

but I'd rather have a Voltron movie first.

Yeah, whatever happened to the Voltron movie? That would be epic too, and there's certainly more name recognition there in the U.S.

Still, an Ultraman movie could really work and it would differentiate itself from other superhero films simply because he's so huge. However, it would probably be cheaper to make than something like Pacific Rim since Ultraman would (hopefully) be a guy in a suit and not all CG.

Ah yes, Ultraman, Mazinger (Tranzor). Pacific Rim showed me how awesome that could be.

Ultraman just doesn't translate and play very well to mainstream American audiences. I don't think it would work.

Also not sure he would look good with modern CG effects and what not.

Well Ultraman has been apart of America culture, generally the only memory that can be recalled is Ultraman Tiga when it aired on Fox Kids, and somewhat the original Ultraman series. So Ultraman, while not big as Godzilla over in the states, could probably draw in some seats.

Buuuuuut, I do agree, I don't think you can do a modern Ultraman without it coming off as too strange for the general audiences. It probably could be pulled off, with a reasonable mind like Del Toro or Gareth Edward in needing to get the spirit of things just right. (With a few changes)

But I will also say that everything about Ultraman would definitely look good with a big american CG budget.
