Days of Future Past How big do you think the budget will and should be?

I'm thinking up to $250 million. Studios are really shelling out the money these days (and often for risky ventures), so I can imagine they'd be pretty generous on a sure bet. I know FOX is cheap, but this movie is guaranteed to be a $500 million WW grosser, so they will probably be willing to invest more to try and take it to the next level.

What are their other big franchises besides Avatar?

I'm afraid Fox is going to lowball the needed budget because of First Class' modest performance.

For once they have the time to make the budget work though. The film isnt gonna be rushed in post. They willl save some cash there.

Im guessing betwen 200-250m. Id be surprised at anything under 200.

I hope they won't. They should have realized when they brought back the original cast that it will require them to raise the budget of the movie.

Haha... I'm sure Psylockolossus was just putting an idea he/she liked but the principle of the team finally getting into space is a great concept. Starjammers, Imperial Guard, Shi'ar, M'Krann Crystal. Eventually, yes!

Yup! Once Apocalypse appeared in the movies and the X-Men beat him. I want X-Men to have their next adventure in Space.

Fox are cheap but that can be a good thing too. I'm sure Prometheus and Rise of the Planet of the Apes would have cost over 200 mil if Disney made them. Apart from Avatar they have Ice age, Rio, Die hard, Taken, Night at the museum, Aliens, Alvin, The Simpsons, Rise of the Apes. Not bad, but they were dumb to pass on Ted.

You can do a lot with $200m and the time they have to use it. Look at Prometheus! Somehow only cost $130m, and we have the same VFX guy working on this film.

Don't forget this Is first X-Men film where they really have time. There Isn't a rush job. They
start filming april 15 and wrap In October.Bryan Singer has 8 months after that to complete post production and edit.

Reportly Fox gave them a 175 million budget which would make It second most expinsve film.Due to having the time they can make the most of It.

Prometheus looked IMPECCABLE to me. If DOFP has that quality

I hope Bryan surprise fans and haters alike with the effects of the movie, to clean up his image with this Jack movie. And to see almost everyone paying more respect to him since the sequel release

Well the problem with Jack was the effects house ended up bankrupted.

Getting the Prometheus VFX guy Is good sign.

FOX doesn't have a lot of mega franchises unlike with Disney who has Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars and the whole Disney animation/Pixar vault.

Though I'm happy that X-Men is one of their top 3 franchises right now. Ice Age has been never huge as the X-Men at the domestic box-office. They are just releasing films for Die Hard, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Aliens for the sake of it but they aren't really big sellers or well-liked by the critics. And its taking them too much time to release new movies for Avatar, The Simpsons and Night at the Museum.

well, curiously yesterday I checked the boxoffice of some movies, and Ice Age 3 or 4 made more than $700 millions internationally, so that alone puts the franchise in a much better place than X-men lol.

But..... hopefully things will change really soon with the x-men franchise.

Makes you hate that franchise even more doesn't it? :cmad:

As an animator/modeler, I never got the appeal of that series.

I dont hate it lol but Ive never felt that interested either. I saw some parts of IA 1, but havent seen a full movie yet, kind of weird, because I like animation, but maybe because there are many IA movies already I lost interest some year or another

And thats why I said "at the domestic box-office".

Of course I know Ice Age did very well overseas. Ice Age 3 has the record for having the biggest overseas gross for an animated film.
