When there's no Cyclops or Marvel Girl aka Jean Grey.

Because it's the first group of kids Xavier recruited. Is it that hard to understand?

The actually name "First Class" has only been used to refer to the original 5 X-Men in the last 3 or so years. People act as if the term "First Class" has always been used for the last 45 years.

Weren't Summers & Grey part of the first class ie X-men Number 1 1960s? If you agree then what your beef?

this movie is about creating the school for mutants to feel safe and not the team of first class

Then why the name First Class as in Xaviers first students at the School for Gifted Youngsters.

Whose to say this "team" is the actual official first class at the Xavier institute? It could just simply be the first group of student they try to put together, but fails. Essentially setting Prof. X and Magneto on track to try again and create the Xavier Institute.

Why don't we just make one, mega inconsistencies/complaints thread? :p

The Movies diverged from the comics already quite a bit. So what's the problem here?

They borrowed the title from the comic. We'll probably see Xavier set up his school which will justify the title.

Because they own the rights, because they suck, because they hate Cyclops and his fans.

That pretty much covers it I guess.

Oh and **** Bryan Singer. And they can all go to hell.

Okay, now that covers everything.

I know. How dare they not magically make Cyclops old enough to be the X-Men leader in the 1960!!!!!!!!!! They obviously HATE him. That's why Jean and Angel and Icemen are also not there.

What's really hilarious is that, since this is an Xaver/Magneto origin story they are the two characters this film will focus on. Meaning that even if they shoehorned Cyclops into the 60's, he would be a background character and people would once again complain.

They should have took the opportunity to reboot the entire series since it's done nothing but suck ass anyway.

Sure fine.

BRB, watching X2. :atp:

why would any delusional fan boy expect a full reboot with singer as the producer and the man who brought the story together lol

Enough, Kuro. You've been making the same comments about the X-Men movies for years. Continue this talk and it's just trolling at this point.

Because its a film adapting the comic book and isnt bound my ANYTHING established in the comic books.

I expect the title of the film to have meaning for the films conclusion = Xavier establishing the school.

i think the film will be about magnito and Xavier putting together a class of mutants that aint the regular known xmen, cyclops, jean ect ect, to not ruin continuety, and then magnito and Xavier start to have differences to how they feel the class should be used aka Xavier wants peace and magnito wants war, and so the class is then split while we find out which of the first class join which side

If the school is established later in the film, or sequel, when will Cerebro be built?

It's possible that the Cerebro we've seen in the first two movies have been the most fully developed and complete version of the technology...The concept behind Cerebro might be established first in this film.

I'm with you! Are they supposed to cram 45 years of comic history into a few movies? The most believable aspects of the stories are used to make good movies. Details such as multi-colored spandex suits and original team members are trivial.

Anyone that is having problems understanding what exactly has been going on with these films in relation to the comics for the past eleven years probably isn't worth taking note of.

This is called First Class because...it's the first class of mutants in this iteration of the X-Men.

...Because we started referring to the original five members of the X-Men as "original" and "first" ever since the second iteration of the X-Men turned up.

The long and the short of it is multiple texts name Cyclops, Angel, and Beast as the first recruits, along with Iceman, the youngest, and Ms. Marvel as the last addition to the original team. They are referred to in text as the "first".

So this movie is simply a complete rewrite.

The movies (all both of them) drew quite effectively from the character dynamics established in the comicbooks. Then, an attempt at a third instalment focused entirely on presenting a light show, while a Wolverine spinoff basically urinated on its comicbook origins...

And now, another adaptation movie that seeks to reinvent the wheel. The result is people complain.

Fox has already deviated far from Cannon and are just following it through and keeping it. Making the rest up as they go.

Its not a reboot so they couldn't have the REAL first class be teens in the 60's. The timelines just wouldn't work out.
