The DVD doesn't really have that much of a bearing. People say if it goes straight to dtv it must have sucked, but there are studios that want their top grossers realeased on dvd faster so they can get more revenue.
It's a fool proof method. Works every time.I watch it.
But the question wasn't about the quality of the film, only if it "did good or bad" which I'm guessing means profit. That doesn't tell whether or not a movie is good though. Just audience perception- look at Shawshank for example.
The greatest way to tell- watch it and decide whether or not you like it.

Thread title: "How can you tell if a movie did good or bad?"I would think it meant quality. And I decide if a movie is good or bad based on my own perception. I often disagree with critics or sites like rotten tomatoes.
In the states Transformers is only coming out three months after its release but preformed as one of the summers better movies. While POTC3 did okay it came out May in theaters and hits dvd in december. thats about 7 months double the time of TF's.
I guess its just about when the studio's wanna release it.

Not: "How can you tell if a movie is good or bad?"
Thats what i figured there money hungry. and the other two were released in Dec also.Well, with POTC, that's just Disney trying to capitalize on Christmas.
Or being released in a crowded summer with no real room to do buisiness with 3 or 4 new movies coming out every week.the only way to tell is if it made more money than its budget, sometimes its not the movies fault , due to limited release and it not being marketed properly.
If it comes out too fast on DVD, or takes a while to come out? Or neither?
