How did Bond know that the guy in Miami was going to the "Body Works" museum exhibit?

This was, to me, the biggest gaffe in the story, but maybe I missed something... how did he figure that out?

He followed Dimitrios there.

So you're saying they must've been on the same flight together?

I think it's safe to assume they were on the same flight. Solange told Bond it was the last plane to Miami.

Bond knew he was going to be there because it's in the script....hehe.

j/m, i agree with Armand. Solange told Bond that Dimitrios was on the last flight to Miami so he obviously knew which flight it was. he probably took the same flight (which would further explain why Dimitrios knew about Bond following him) and followed Dimitrios by cab.

Gotcha. Thanks for the assist.

From the dialogue with Solange, I thought she got a phone call after he was already boarding or on the plane or something, so I thought Bond got a later flight and then inexplicably found the dude. This makes much more sense.

the call said he was booked on the last flight. That could have been a couple of hours after the call

How does Bond just blindly trust that Leiter is CIA?

Sorry this is the wrong thread but I can't create a new one and my post on the FAQ one went unanswered :(

When Bond found out he had been poisoned, what was it that he drank when he rushed to the bathrrom? Was that salted watter?
I'm curious to find out if there's any scientific backing to whatever it was that he did.

Thanks!

Yeah, he just drank some salt water. It's believed that if you're trying to induce vomiting, drinking salt water can be something of a helpful homemade solution. So he was trying to vomit the poison back up. Granted, it's not the best option for inducing vomiting, but he didn't have any of the other obvious choices around him.

Don't know if he did. Felix got Bond back in the game, and that's all Bond really needed to care about. But, besides that....Leiter knew enough about Le Chiffre, and his quip about having enough money seemed to back him up for Bond. But, him being Felix....a well known Bond character, is really all WE need to know. But, it's not like Bond trusted Felix with top secret info or anything.....Felix helped buy James way back into the game.

Many thanks for the reply Bishop2! :)

Sorry that's not good enough for me.

I don't believe Bond how he is in this movie, would simply trust him like that.

In the book, it's well established to Bond who Leiter is and that they are working together on the job.

He wasn't placing any trust on Leiter. Bond's mission was to deny Le Chiffre the money by winning the game. Bond lost his $10 million and Vesper wasn't going to give him the extra $5 million. At that point, there was no way he's getting back into the game to complete his mission.

Until Leiter came along.

Bond doesn't care of Leiter's affiliation or if he's telling the truth or otherwise. Leiter offered Bond a way back into the game. Bond simply took that opportunity.

Bond's mission was for MI-6 to gain possession of Le Chiffre and his knowledge about the terrorists he works for.

Not for the CIA to get Le Chiffre.

Pushed against a wall, I think it really didn't matter to Bond who bagged Le Chiffre as long as he was brought down.

And the whole idea was to get Le Chiffre to voluntarily surrender himself after losing his clients' money who'd definitely be after his blood.

Hey I couldnt make a new thread, so Ill ask on here. I think i may have missed a few things. Where did the guy at the end come from? I know the girl was using the money to pay off a black mail, but why didnt she let bond save her, it looked like she locked herself in the elevator that went into the water. and who was she paying off to protect. Im kinda confused, any help would be great.thanks

Well to be fair Bond was just about to knife Le Chiffre so obviously it wasn't as important to him at that point. My interpretation is for Bond to satisfy his ego and beat Le Chiffre he would've done anything.

One can simply assume that Bond at some point went back to his car to make contact with MI6 and have them check to make sure.

Obviously the film doesn't show every single moment of Bond's mission, or else it would be a lot longer than 2 and a half hours. Plus it would make for a pretty silly and pointless scene:

Bond walks to the car

Bond: Hello M, is there a man named "Felix Leiter" in the CIA?
M: Let me check... yes.
Bond: Okay, thanks.
Bond walks back into the Casino

But, in what way did Bond trust Felix?

He just accepted his money to get back in the game.

This is a movie, not real life. You don't waste precious running time making every charcter they are who they say they are unless it's pivotal to the story.

Too many leaps of logic. Sorry.

What's the leap of logic? He didn't trust Felix with his life or anything. It was:

"Damn, I need money."
-"Hey pal, here's some money."
"Thanks."

Leiter could have said he was the Emperor of China as long as he handed the money over.

Remember, a big part of the plot with Bond being new to the job and all was he trusted people too easily, as pointed out by M, I believe, at one point. Then after the betrayal at the end of the movie, Bond went to the other extreem by not trusting anyone at all as, again, noted my M.

As for finding Dimitrios, he simply took the same flight and followed him.
