The Amazing Spider-Man 2 How did you become Spider-Man fans?

Spider-Man.jpg

I am 24 years old so the 90's was my chiled hood and i would say that is what got it started. Then the video games and the movies. I would say affter spider man 1 i got a lot more into him. I never really read any of the comics though but i did just get that dvd rom with all the amazing spider man comics form amazon a few weeks ago for $70 have read the first 2 so far.

Spider-Man tas, and the Spider-Man games for PS1.

A friend of mine wouldn't stop talking about Spidey, and he had this really cool figure.

Then he showed me Spider-Man (2002) and, well, I was hooked for life.

It's hard to remember the exact details, but I think it started with the 90's series or the 2002 movie. I would watch reruns of TAS in the mornings and had a picture storybook of the 2002 move (I wasn't allowed to watch the actual movie because of the violence, I was 9 at the time and seeing a Goblin being impaled thru the gonads was deemed a bit much by the powers that were) A friend at school gave me a reprint of Amazing Fantasy #15 and I checked out all the books I could from the local library. I was obsessed with the web-shooters and how the heck he was able to see out of those white lenses and no one could see in! (it was a seriously cool book, but alas I can't find it anywhere)

I tried making a Spidey costume, and web-shooters and had those silly string web-shooters. Played at being Spider-man all the time. Now a days I read the Ultimate comics, especially the early days of Ultimate Spider-man, and keep up to date with the reboot, which I enjoy a great deal. I fiddle around with making Spidey costumes still and even have some ideas about web-shooters. I find the science fiction of it as interesting as the moral struggles and all the difficulties that Peter has to face, of growing up and learning to be responsible. It's such a great world to tell interesting and powerful stories, and still be fun and exciting. It's good stuff.

As a kid during the 90s with the comics, cartoon and video games. Thought Venom and Carnage were the coolest characters out there during the time.

Started watching Spidey cartoons in the 80s. I've loved Spidey since I was about five.

In the 90s, no-one really believed a Spider-Man film would ever really get made. Now here we are, with five!

Remember the Maximum Carnage video game?

I thought that was really cool.

Yeah, that was bizarre.

There was a sequel called Separation Anxiety which I think had two players.

The Spider-Man game in 2000 had it for N64 and he became my favorite superhero.

The 90s animated series, the PS1 video game, and then SM1. Then I got into the comic books.

During Erik Larsen's run of the Amazing Spider-man back in the early 90's.

I loved the artwork and it was a nice window into Spidey's world.

I also liked Spider-man and his Amazing Friends back in the 80's.

My older half-brother had Spider-Man vs. Kingpin for the Sega Genesis. I played it almost daily, but was around 4 when I played it...so I really sucked. But that's what got me into the comics and TAS, then the PSX games came along...I was obsessed. Nearly shat my pants when I saw the teaser for SM1 in theaters. I even bought the visual dictionary in 4th grade to catch up on the (at the time) 30 or so years of history I missed.

I miss my childhood lol. :csad:

TAS, Spider-Man (2002), and the movie tie in for the game. I wasn't very good so I couldn't get to the part where you got to play with the classic costume and I was really happy when I could play with the real Spider-Man lol.

Damn, am I the only old dude here? Say it isn't so!!!! heh. Got into Spidey with the reruns of the 60's Spidey Toon, after school in the early 70s. Two older brothers would give me their old comics, mostly Marvel, and I always loved the Spidey issues best. Been a Spidey Collector ever since. Can't wait for the new Movie! yeah, I'm easily amused, I've loved all the Spidey movies/tv shows/ toons. Anything that keeps Spidey alive, is always fine with me.

Keep On Thwipin'!!!

Seems like majority of you guys grew up with the 90s cartoon. I'm 19, but I was exposed to Spidey through the 80's cartoon. I remember it airing at 9AM every Saturday and I would get pissed off if I didn't wake up in time to catch it. Right now I can still hum to the tune of the theme song :D After that period of time, my mum would buy some comic books for me every once in a while, and that was the Ultimate Spider-Man.

I wanted to read more so I searched online *cough* for earlier issues. Then I slowly picked up reading the 616 Spidey. I also watched the 90s cartoon when it started airing. Also got a couple of CDs. Most memorable episode is the one with Doc Ock, and the one with Scorpion.

I was so interested in Spidey that watch most of the 60's episodes on YouTube! If I remember correctly, his webshooters had a red button for trigger  and he didn't have the iconic spidey hand gestures for web shooting.
