I downloaded a gif and tried to put it as my avatar But it doesn't seem to work,Plus all avatar pics I put.....they always end up small or tiny for some reason!!

Plz help IF you can,I'd appreciate it!!

Everyone on the hype has a size limit. Since you have over 2,000 posts, and have been here at least 6 months, you can have a 100 X 100 avatar.

However, the size limit is 109.3 kb. So your gif or images are probably exceeding that, and the Hype will automatically cut it, or shrink it down.

Maybe post your gif, and I'll see if I can get it to work.

It's probably because the KB of the GIF goes over the SHH limits. You have to optimize the GIF somehow, or shorten it.

EDIT: PWN3R beat me to it.

GIMP terrifies me. It's so confusing compared to Photoshop.
I tried GIMP and I couldn't do stuff that MS Paint would let me. :csad:

In photoshop, just keep pressing stuff and eventually it'll make sense. :P

Thanx again,But so how do I get to edit them on my own?I'm still confused on that

I used Photoshop. PacMaster makes his with GIMP. Whatever works for you. I'm sure there are a ton of free gif editors.

Just torrent photoshop.

Is there a way to manually optimize GIFs with Photoshop?

Using one or a combination of 1) Cutting down frames 2) Cropping 3) Messing with the colors.

Unless there is something else I'm not sure of, that's what I normally do to get them to fit.

I prefer GIMP. I tried the Photoshop free trial and it keeps lagging and freezing and I'm used to GIMP's layout. Maybe I'll give it a try again.

Ulead Gif Animator 5 hasn't failed me yet, it's the easiest program to use. You don't have to mess around with anything to make an avatar fit size limits either lol you just enter a number and it does the rest. I could never quite wrap my head around ImageReady or GIMP but whatever, if anyone wants it just shoot me a PM and SWIM will toss you a direct download link.

Can anybody shrink mine down to size for an avatar?
