How do i put my DVD's into my ipod touch?

I Think i have to rip the DVD then convert it but i havent a clue and dont want to use a software (possibly a free one if anyone knows of one) that is full of viruses.
Any help would be much appreciated.

OK simply put...
You need an application to rip the movie off the DVD to a single encoded file that your iPod recognizes.

I know of purchased ones...not a free one.
