I want to costumize this action figure I just bought to look like a character I made up.
What sort of materials do I use?
What paint should I use?
How would I paint detail on the figure?
how would I add onto the figure, like if I wanted to add a mohawk?

If anyone can help that would be really great.
thanks.

no but if this guy needs step by step help, people like robo or jin can help him with almost any problem he comes up with

i still need to buy paint for my figs... and some sandpaper.... and apoxy sculpey

OK, I know I should probably ask else where but whats it gonna hurt to ask here.
So just wondering... the action figure is brown, and I want to paint him yellow.
I have been putting on coat after coat of yellow paint, and it is still not solid yellow like I had hoped.

I know what I SHOULD have done was use a primer or white paint, but now its a little too late for his had and torsoe.

Anyone know what I should do?

Jin posts here :(

Every once in a blue moon, though. Depending on response from him isn't going to get you very far.

What's his URL again? He's got so many step-by-step recipes you can't go wrong.

Where's FTB.....Artisean, FTB should be in tonight. He will post some painting tips and he will post a link to Jin Santome (Sp?)'s website, it is filled with all kinds of advice....or maybe to a google search for soem customizing websites....some of them will be quite good.

OK, I'll be sure to check in later.

If by stripped you mean strip the brown paint off the figure I can't.
the figure is brown plastic, not painted so the brown wont come off I think.

OK, first things first Artistsean.

I'm the *** DAMN FTB, I don't answer to nuthin' else. You say "Hey FTB, blah this and blah that" I'll ignore it because you didn't say "Hey the *** DAMN FTB, blah this and blah that". Understand?? Good.

Now, you said sumthin' about wanting some help on the yellow/brown situation. What paints are you using? If they're oil based paints you might aswell toss'em in the garbage. Its all about acryllics bro. Thats what you want. And not the cheapo dollar stuff like Wal-Mart has either. I'm talking stuff by Testors. Any good hobby shop or gaming place (like the places that sell the WarHammer figures for gaming) should have them. OK, now to the problem. My advice when coming across said situation is boils down to two words.

Base coat.

You need a base coat. A light one preferably. Taking a dark color like brown and turning it to a lighter color like yellow needs a base coat. White will do the trick. So one base coat of white will help tremendously to get the desired lighter color you want.

Say FTB....Did you see the pics of the Start of my Dick Tracy?

Thanks, but by the time I had posted the problem I had already painted a few coats of yellow. At this time the yellow is covering the brown pretty well, occassionally (because of all the ridges and bumps of the action figure) the shadows look a little green for some reason. But good still, good enough.
Now I need to figure out how I'm going to make a mohawke and cape.

Thanks for the help.

FTB Can help with that too.

FTB Post a link to Jin's

Yes. The Riddler body looks too small but its simple enough to mesh well with the head/face of the Mez-Itz figure.

Well. the Mez It's head is gone and Sandman gladly stepped up to take the challange....Now I just need a new hat and paint....But I could use advice on replicating a neck....Riddlers head pops right off if you wanna take a look...it pops right back on.

Hey can I use Guache paint to paint an action figure?
Or does it have to be Accrylic?
