there is obviously a significant break between TDK and TDKR with the whole 8 years thing.... assuming batman is either injured and recovering for a while...just gives up....quits for whatever reason...

how do you want his big return to me?

for me, there could be a couple different ways i would get goosebumps with or stand and cheer.

1. Bane tells all of gotham the truth about harvey...Batman is still missing. after the city knows about harvey at his little speech in the streets.... batman dive bombs into him...cheers erupt from the 'good citizens and cops'...causing them to gain hope and fight back (maybe this could be the city hall scene in the middle of the movie?). id like a great score with this scene as well, such as the little tune going on at 0:33 of this [YT]Z_DSq-LhOyU[/YT]

2. Bane hurts batman badly...he is gone for a couple years,,,w.e.... Bane rules gotham...but has someone underneath him, a 2nd in command (Talia obviously isnt revealed yet)...i dunno...scarecrow... whatever villain...or just a random dude who is Banes Lieutenant. Anyways...batman takes him down. kinda does something Falcone style in BB... the bat symbol returns.

Def not option 1. Batmans first time seeing Bane should be a face to face encounter getting caught off guard. I'm sure he will return after Gotham goes to hell but will stay in the shadows til the end. Especially since I'm pretty sure Gotham will know Bruce is Batman.

It makes sense. I envision a Rocky-esque re-train with Zimmer playing music which builds and builds into soaring hopeful emotion ala "A Watchful Guardian". And when he's suited up and going into battle something very similar to the tribal end of Barbastella.

I agree....i hope Banes knowledge does not come from the Joker in ANY way... Joker should have NO part of this film. I think Miranda, or even Bane, dig it out of gordon or his family.

It would tie up the trilogy nicely, and bring things back to Batman Begins.

I just hope Bat's returns doesn't hurt / ruing Bane's unique feel. Batman beating the crap out of Bane would be really horrible IMO and would make the film look more like a crappy Rocky sequel (With Bat as Stallone and Bane is Ivan Dragon or Mr T).

Bane should never be defeated in a fair fight against Bat just like Joker couldn't be captured using the normal and just methods. Nolan never tarnished Joker's reputation and power in TDK. Why should he do the same here?
This is why I would definitely choose the 2nd option. Plus that way we can have yet another Batman vs Scarecrow fight (Giving a fun sense of symmetry to the trilogy).

OK so Bane wants to tell the people of Gotham the truth about their murdering psychopath DA and the liar-bat swoops in to shut him up.

I'd cringe.

Bats and Gordon may think what they did is super noble, but in reality it's pretty selfish.

Gordon said sometimes the truth isn't good enough but ask the people and most of them will gladly choose it over being lied to.

Firstly, Bruce will have been active all 8 years, pretty much just going through the motions, and Bane sneak attacks him and beats him so badly he's out of commission for 3 months (training) and the return of Batman is him in the Bat.
