Everybody has their own view of life and the world and I know that this place is filled with a lot of people from various walks of life and people who have lived in times where things were very different than they are today. I was wondering what some of you folks here on the Hype would consider to be major events, whether they be some major worldwide event or even something more personal and closer to home, that have changed the way you see the world.

For me, being born in 1989, the first major events to shake up my world was obviously 9/11, especially since I live in NY. When I was around 7 years old, I saw a movie about an asteroid that would destroy the world and it scared me to the point where I developed some anxiety issues, but after a couple of years of being convinced that that would never happen, I started to feel safe again until 9/11. That was an event that I feel like has changed how safe I feel in the world since I never imagined that something that devastating would ever occur, especially so close to me.

But I also feel like the advances made in technology and social media are some other majors things to happens. I remember a time when my crush in elementary school moved away and my only means of communicating was by writing her a letter since we were allowed to talk on the phone. As much as the advances now have made things faster and easier, I feel like they've become a little more complicated too. It's like things are so easy to use for young kids that they grow so accustomed to it to the point that they dependent on it to some extent, in that everything is done much through instant messaging as opposed to calling someone or talking to them face to face.

There's not been something "big" that's changed me or my world. But, for me personally. Doing my one year compulsory military service changed me. Made me abit more open minded, quicker to pick things up. In general, I've been the same guy that I was most of my teenage years... I'm maby less of an assh*** now, then I was back then. But, that's just a part of geting older I guess.

Ever since 9/11, the unneeded large scale invasion of Afghanistan, pointless war in Iraq, and the endless War on Terror and NATO's mission being turned to the Middle East instead of being dissolved after the Cold War, I just have become much more of a pacifist as militarism increases so much. Patriotism that got sparked in 9/11 that it seemed people needed to buy and spend for the good of their countries by buying houses and vehicles they couldn't afford to keep the economy going during the war effort. So thanks also to Bush's deregulation policies and massive war spending and media manipulation. I am no longer ever going to be patriotic or nationalistic for any country ever again, or spend beyond my means for anyone. It seemed the War on Terror was a Ponzi scheme for increased global reach of the U.S. military and corporations to forge an economic and military empire. I'm a human being living on planet Earth who wants to resolve disputes and needs for resources without profit and violence for all.

Since I was born in the mid 90's I grew up with shows like this:

The prizes on that show were so 90's. Like Bop It, Walkman and cassete players. A printer, and all that stuff. Used to love this show, man I wish I could have went to an episode :(

And now, the shows today are well, terrible. The world, for me, has indeed changed. Parents are far more over protective so kids shows today aren't as risky as they used to be. Stickin' Around had so many Uranus jokes. Hahaha
