I made this timeline a while ago. It's got some flaws and its starting to get a bit stretched considering Batman's age but it's how I see it:

Year 1: Year 1, The Man Who Laughs, Four of A Kind
Year 2: The Long Halloween
Year 3: Dark Victory, The Gauntlet (Dick Grayson becomes Robin)
Year 4:
Year 5: Tales of the Demon
Year 6: Son of the Demon
Year 7: The Killing Joke (Dick becomes Nightwing, Jason Todd becomes Robin)
Year 8: A Death In The Family (Jason Todd dies)
Year 9: A Lonely Place of Dying, Knightfall, Prodigal (Tim Drake becomes Robin)
Year 10: Contagion, Cataclysm, NML
Year 11: Evolution, Office Down, BW: Murderer, BW: Fugitive
Year 12: Hush, Broken City, Death and the Maidens
Year 13: War Games, War Crimes, Under the Hood, Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis
Year 14: 52
Year 15: OYL (Now)

From that it's been a little over 5 years, but like I said Batman's not going to age more than he has so I should probably shrink it abit and say 3-4 years. (Although I guess IC could have de-aged him somehow with the "New" Earth and all.)

I'd recommend these:
Bruce Wayne: Murderer?
Bruce Wayne: Fugitive Vol. 1-3
Hush
Arkham Asylum
The Killing Joke
Year 1

I know its not a Batman TPB, but a great Batman villain that was consider lame that made an awesome comeback would be Catman from the Villians United TPB. It made Catman incredible, and also gave character to Parademon and Deadshot.

The Batman titles posted by the other members are essential Batman reads.

Batman and the Monster Men.

Deadshot already had plenty of character before VU.

Yeah, Deadshot has tons of characterization thanks to Ostrander's work on him.

In what issue of No Man's Land does Batman almost reveal his secret identity to Commissioner Gordon?
I know its near the end but I was hoping someone could tell me an exact comic book name and number.
