For those people who are renowned on here for stellar work, I was wondering just how long a panel takes them, or a page. Either just the pencils, or if you're one of those who likes to scan and colour your own stuff to post here, how long for the whole process?

People like EVL, ComicFan, who seem to post damn good full comic pages, colouring and all.

Hi there, :)

It can take pretty long, for the most part anywhere from 12 to 20 hours to complete a really detailed pic with background. Sequential pages take about that long too. Single character shots take around 3 to 4 hours.

All from Pencils to colors. :O

Thanks. Am curious because it takes me about 30-60mins for one panel in pencils, but I'm a real novice at digital colouring so that eats time.

Quite a few people here post some really impressive pics, that surpass many of those actually penning our favourite comics. But I sometimes get the impression that although they are astounding, it takes them several days worth of non-stop to get them so, so that wouldnt be much use in the industry as itd be even worse than Bryan Hitch.

Even though I can't sit strait for several hours working on a penciled page, I've timed myself, writing down the times that I do work on something, and for a complete detailed penciled page, sequence or not, I seem to average about 7-8 hours.

if its something i really want to turn out half way decent i usually spend about 3 to 4 nights on a piece and about 3 hours each night
