I've discovered that I love C-Span and hate TV News... Actually I've know that for a while, TV News sucks since most of it is a bunch of crappy pundits looking to become famous... Give me the NY Times any day of the week, however it's awesome to actually see Congress in session and instead of having someone select certain clips being able to see a full debate and making my own decision about it. I'm curious how many other people like watching C-Span?

For example this article doesn't give you any of the real goings on of what happen during the senate basically crucifiying the Attorney General. I mean I sat down for 2 hours and watch this hearing. For a hearing on the wire-tapping, it quickly turn into the SEnate really questioning how far President Bush is going go. At one point Senator Kennedy was asking hypothetical questions as to whether President Bush thought he had the power to invade Iraq without the conscent of congress. It really didn't spend as much time on the FISA since basically the panel said, "This is completely ridiculous and we don't take you serious so we're going grill you on everything else" And to be honest Gonzales didn't hold up very well he could barely answer any of the questions, he just kind of said, "I'm not quite sure" or tried to dodge most of the questions. It really served to remind how fed up Congress is with the president, however none of htat is mentioned in this article found on CNN.

Alberto Gonzales spent two hours every day for the last three weeks steeling himself for today's hearing before the Democrat-led Senate Judiciary committee, says a close aide. Staffers peppered him with possible questions that each Senator might ask. He went in armed for the fight with freshly penned letter to the chairmen of that committee — Democrat Patrick Leahy of Vermont and Republican Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania — telling them not to worry about the whole warrant-less wiretapping issue anymore; it has been approved by judge. It seemed like a nimble pre-emptive duck to take a contentious issue off the table. Some Senators thought it felt more they were being led down a rabbit hole.

In an often-heated exchange, Gonzales refused to disclose details about the court's decision and exactly how it applied to the President's controversial wiretapping program. While disclosing that the court had ruled, Gonzales was unwilling to reveal any of the "operational details about how we're doing this." At one point, an exasperated Leahy asked, "Are we Alice in Wonderland here?"

The big question was whether there will be some genuine judicial oversight that monitors how individual wiretaps are being used, or if the court approval is a one-time pass for the entire program. Frustrated Senators pointed out that it was still unclear what procedures, if any, will actually change with the court order, issued on Jan. 10 by a single judge sitting on the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court.

The judge, Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, wrote in a letter today that she was willing to give Senators copies of the court's opinions on the secret program — provided the Justice Department approved the release of the classified documents, as is the court's standard practice. By the end of the day, many Senators were unsatisfied, feeling they were getting new answers to their old questions, but none of it added up to new information.

The program in question, run by the National Security Agency program and later named the Terrorist Surveillance Program, was designed to listen in on international telephone conversations into or out of the U.S. when one of the callers is believed to be affiliated with a terrorist group. The Justice Department has argued for a year that going through the FISA court for approval of these sensitive, urgent wiretaps was too cumbersome and time consuming.

But after the program was uncovered in press reports in December 2005, pressure mounted on the White House to have judicial oversight. Republican Rep. Pete Hoekstra of Michigan applauded the change today, saying it was a result of "tough questioning" by the House Intelligence Committee over the past year.

But Heather Wilson, a New Mexico Republican who serves on the House Intelligence committee and has been briefed on the program, told the New York Times that she believed the FISA approval was "programmatic" in scope, rather than involving the ongoing review of individual warrants. If that's the case, it doesn't change very much for the Administration — other than eliminating the need for the President to reauthorize the program every 45 days, as he's done since it was initiated in October 2001. The White House has gotten a judge to do that — indefinitely.

I hate the news...

"He died" "His house burned down" "She got shanked" "The boy was taken" "There was an accident today" "Someone donated a million dollars to the hospital:)" "He drowned this evening."

:o

Hey, it's better than FOX news, it's about as fair and balanced as my grandma's boobs.

Yeah and all the other network slant the other way, and why do they do this? RATINGS! Hell, O'Reilly is I believe the highest rated network news program. Having a slanted program sells better because people love hearing people rant about what they think, instead of hearing an unbias albiet stale version of hte news. Consider this, the level of crime/violence has actually been steadily decreasing for the past decade yet the amount of crime and violence shown in the news has been steadily increasing for the past decade. I believe the stastic is hard news typically only takes up 5 minutes of a 30 minute news program on TV... Hence why TV sucks :)

Just as Maddox said, "Bill O'Reilly is a big blubbering vagina".

Nope, don't watch it. Colbert, Daily Show, and CNN for me.

When my blood coupe on the United States is complete O'Reilly shall be first to go.

Just as Maddox said, "Bill O'Reilly is a big blubbering vagina".

I can appriciate Maddox for saying offensive things that are hilarious, however, his opinions usually suck. O'Reilly is hilarious, I mean for everyone who rags on him, it's because there secretly angry over the fact so many people watch him. For everyone who likes Keith Olberman, Keith is just a liberal version of O'Reilly. O'Reilly is just another form of entertainment, he's not really that bad, when you put it into context.

O'Reilly is a *****e, he's a neo-con of the first order.

I've found 2 episodes of the Factor to be hillarious...1. when Marilyn Manson owned the hell out of him a year or so after columbine, and 2. yesterdays episode with Steven Colbert when O'Reily kept trying to diss him and Colbert kept turning it around on him

I liked the episode when he had some muscian on and he asking why he had to make a music video about Jesus. And O'Reilly at one point refers to himself as an artist, it was hilarious :D But enough about O'Reilly does no one watch C-Span :cmad:

I find C-Span incredibly boring...Congress was better way back in the day when people were like, caning each other and s**t...congress was gangsta back in the 18's yo :o

It's dry but it's very satisfying if you sit through it especially the good parts, plus there still plenty of petty side jabs by polititicians. Today the republicans had a press conferance concerning the democrats 100 hours agenda plan, and it was basically 30 minutes of Republicans insulting Democrats, without ANY subtlty, it was really terrible actually :(

I just want the version of C-SPAN that shows Taiwanese Parliament. The latest clip I saw involved the throwing of a shoe

Wrong. Keith is a reasonable man, O'Reilly is a nutjob.

He doesn't ***** and moan. He goofs on O'Really when he acts like an ass, like recently when O'Really talked about that kid who was missing for 4 years, saying that he probably enjoyed it. The kid was more than likely molested. Keith is also more civil with his guests unlike O'Really.

I've yet to hear Keith yell on his show. Ever.

I'd get rid of the people involved in the Catwoman movie, Paris Hilton, Ashlee Simpson, and other people who annoy me before I get rid of O'Reilly.

I'd get rid of him eventually, but he's not top priority

O'Reilly was pretty damn funny with Colbert on both the O'Reilly Factor and the Colbert Report.

Also, even though he's a complete ass on his TV show like 95% of the time, his opinion articles actually come off rather intelligent even if I don't agree with what he says and they do come off a tad arrogant.

Rush Limbaugh is way worse than Bill O'Reilly.
