This was inspired by an old FF story(FF#110-112). After transforming in old Greenskin, Banner's emerald alter ego cries out "this time Thing won't escape me- this time Thing must DIE!" Yet, in the early part of FF#112, a Bruce Banner, now transformed back to his human self, after strking what seems to be a fatal blow to Ben Grimm, gloomily notes "The Hulk didn't want Ben Grimm to die.!. In HULK#258, he bludgeons the Crimson Dynamo so severely that in the next issue that he is shown to need the services of the best medical care-although he is shown not to die, his injuries could have been fatal.

In HULK#260, Colonel Glenn Talbot is killed whilst on a renegade mission against the Hulk. Given old "Jade Jaws"'s almost unimaginable physical strength, it's almost unbelievable how FEW people he has been shown to kill(although I suspect that even those relatively few weigh heavily on Bruce Banner's conscience)!

Supposedly, none, thanks to Super math.

I've never really followed Hulk, what's the explanation? In Road to Civil War Iron Man asks Maria Hill "how many?" after finding out Hulk's on a rampage, and she says "26 and a dog" or something similar. These just casualties or kills?

It depends on who you want to believe ... but up until Bendis decided to make the Hulk a killer, he hadn't really killed anuyne... but Bendis wants us to believe that he had always "killed"...

funny how that name crops up everytime something inexplicable happens in the writing...

Greg Pak's run on the various Hulk books specifically state that the Hulk has never killed anyone unintentionally.

That ***** deserved it though
:woot:

EDIT: Bypassing the censors is a no-no :nono:

Actually that's probably one of the more sensible things bendis has brought up. Hell Spider-Man has accidently killed more people due to having superpowers than a guy that routinely destroys whole cities?

I don't disagree - I meant it wouldn't be first time canon says one thing and Bendis another. Personally I find the lack of civilian casualties a little unbelievable.

Well, he still killed people when he was mindless....but apparently that doesn't count. :o

Without Banner in there doing complicated Super Math, allowing Hulk to knock over buildings without killing anybody, he's just, you know, knocking over buildings and killing people.

i'll just say it, the super math thing is ******ed. i like Bendis' take on it

I think they both work in the context of the universe. It's Superhero comics....it is what it is.

I kinda don't see how banner is as smart as people say he is. He makes a gamma bomb then runs out and uses duck and cover to prevent it's effects. Rick Jones should be toast.

He shoulda just hit the abort button and if there wasn't one, he shoulda made an abort button. :o

Banner is stated to be the Marvel Universes' fourth smartest person. So considering that Marvel canon says that he's as smart as people say he is, I'm going to lean towards Banner being as smart as people say he is.

Not smart enough to have built and used an abort button. :o

He did build one, I'm fairly certain he told his assistant to stop the countdown, but his assistant turned out to be a commie spy...or something like that.

Aside from Mr. Fantastic I would say the leader and MODOK who both possess superhuman intelligence would be above banner. As would probably Doom, Pym, Mad Thinker, Tony Stark...etc. (also leaving out gods and artificial intelligences like Loki, Athena, Apollo, Ultron, Vision, etc) I just don't see banner as being there despite what people say. He built a gamma bomb which kinda did the opposite of his intention. That's his big claim to fame. I just don't see it.

Also I don't see how radiation research correlates to advanced instantaneous spatial physics which is what that super math correlates to.

I would think that Banner is smarter than Tony Stark... but that's just me...

BWHAHAHAHAHAH!
Freaking Tony built that killer clone "Ragnarok"( with Mr. F). Pym built a killer robot Ultron! ( whats up with these dudes and their killer something or other??) Mr. F cant see his babe wants to "sleep with the fishes".. oh and he built a killer robot! H.E.R.B.I.E ( well he kills me anyways!) Again these cats really aint the brightest blubs in the bunch!

told ya there are some dumb ass peoples in the MU!:woot:

Banner screwed up with his one big project which instead of killing actually made a person pretty much unkillable. Tony made an exoskeleton that makes him capable of dealing with almost any threat imaginable while saving his life. If we're talking actual accomplishments and things they've done tony is way beyond banner.
