Prices have been pretty ridiculous for a while now and I was wondering what is the high end of prices in your area. Not counting 3-D, HD or IMAX movies in your area?

The Theaters I frequent haven't quite gotten to $12.00 a ticket yet, but just under at $11.50 per movie full admission.

8.75-10.75 for the matinee where I usually go (depending on whether I want to reserve a seat or not. Had to shell out 11-12 bux (don't remember) to see Tree of Life at Lincoln Plaza, and it's cheaper at the AMC Empire. I only shelled out about $14 for Thor in 3D 'cause my usual theater didn't run it in 2D...until a week later. Though at least they have $6 Bargain Tuesdays.

$9.50 for a matinee. $11.50 for full price.

It's $9.50 with my student ID but my theater does $5 Tuesdays so I don't see something on any other day unless I'm psyched over an upcoming movie in which case I have no problem going release day.

$7.50 for a matinee, but $10 for a night showing.

matinee $7.50

6pm & beyond $8.50

Before 6pm on weekends, 7.50. The rest of the time, 10 bones, except Mon-Thursday when it's 5.

$16 per ticket here on average.

You can get cheaper fees ($12-14 if you're a student) or matinees that run from $7-10

Last week, a night showing that isn't in 3-D was upped 25 cents to $9.25 for Fridays and Saturdays. The night shows, including midnight shows, are $7.50 Sunday through Thursday. (But we do have a nice $5 matinee period from 4-5:30 p.m. everyday that encompasses everyone.)

Then there's that thorny $3 surcharge for 3D shows.

In Australia, average price is about $17 for regular session (about $16US), $22 for 3D (about $20-21US).

That's disgusting. It's about $11 CDN where I am, and that'd be about 11.50 US.

$9.50 matinee

$12.00 after 6:00 pm

$15.00 for 3D

This is why I don't go to the movies anymore, it's to damn expensive!

This is insane. Here in Sweden a movie cost 100-110 kronor, which is $16-$18

Doesn't cost me anything, I got a ton of gift certificates. I'm glad consider it'll cost 9.99 to up for a tix and if you add the food I might have to spend 30 to 40 bucks. Double if I'm on a date

there are two cinemas near me one charges £5 for a adult ticket the other £9 for a adult ticket.

The prices have gotten so high because some fat ass boss is overestimating what he's actually doing and believes he deserves all the money in the world. I'm here to say...

You are wrong boss-man.

That is if his or hers bullcrap self is listening, if not disregard this.

That, or someone just likes pulling young peoples chains.

The theater closest to me

Theater Pricing:

Matinee, Adult $6.50
Adult (Fri-Sat) $9.50
Adult (Sun-Thurs) $9.00
Additional 3D Surcharge $3.00
Super Bargain (4-5:30pm) $5.00
Child (Fri-Sat) $6.50
Child (Sun-Thurs) $6.00
Matinee (Fri-Sat) $7.00

Pretty much any major chain in NYC doesn't even do matinee prices. It stinks. My feeling is if a movie has been out 6 weeks, then they should charge cheaper admission. It's better to sell a seat at a lower price than none at all.

Early Bird: $5.00
Matinee: $7.00
Night: $9.50

Goddamn, and here we complain about ticket prices. I feel lucky I can pay five bucks for a film.

Wow I'm surprised by how many $13 + tickets there are. I thought $11.50 was bad. Hell I remember when it was $4.50 for full price. :(

$9 matinee
$12 after 6 PM
$5 Sundays on matinee

Just got back from X-Men. For a 10 AM showing, it felt like a Friday night.

Yeah it costs me $18  per ticket every time I go to the embassy here, unless tix are comped.
