i'm watching this interview with khari rudolph and he's talking about how he makes his real money by doing licensing work for various companies and that doing comics is more of a passion/hobby.

does anyone know what the going rate is for marvel and/or dc? i've heard everywhere from $500 per page (pencilers) to upwards of $3000 for a finished cover. these figures could be way off, though...

I have no clue....what about writers? What kind of money do they make?

I've talked to a few artists and most make like $300 for pencils but the page rate depends on the artist. I wouldn't be surprised if many a lot made less.

And Indy guys can make as little as $25 a page. I think the guy that does Ms. Marvel currently said he makes like $300.

If you get on their web sites and they do those single character, no background commissions what they charge for pencils there is probably pretty close to their actual page rate.
