Sorry if this question has been asked. I'm just curious. The recession has affected some more than others. Sometimes I'm on Facebook and notice that a friend has uploaded photos. The first thing that pops into my head is, "damn! This person is having a lot more fun than I am." It sucks being broke, but some don't have that problem.

There's a recession? I'm too drunk to care. :o

I got my first real job right when the recession started and about to buy my first new-ish car. I'm nowhere near ready for a house yet though. Suck it recession!

I'm still broke and still getting by. If I really get down to it, I'm probably doing a little better than I was before it.

We are having to take furloughs (mandatory days off without pay). Been doing it for a year now.

Not much really. But I don't think things are quite so bad over here.

That sucks dude.

Here we have plenty of work but that's because we're short staffed by at least 6 people and we don't have any money left to hire and train new people.

We are in that same situation too. From what I was told, less than 10 years ago, we had approxmately 400 badged employees statewide. Now its like 230 and most of those positions have been completely eliminated to satisfy the budget. So we are operating at about 60% of the employees that we had just a few short years ago. Do you think crime has slowed? Of course not.

There has not been anyone hired since my class and probably will not be anyone hired for several more years. We are also closing 3 crime labs to meet the budget cuts as well. Its crazy here.

I've gone from Cs and Ds to Bs and As in College. :awesome:

I know how you feel man. In my case I couldn't even buy this jacket I wanted or a PSP.

I work for a school district that has done very well with its budget, we are not in near as much hurt as a lot of districts. Also, this is my 19th year at that school district, so I wasn't worried about losing my job.

As long as the market stays up more than down, my retirement is in good shape.

One thing the recession has made me do is watch my spending more than I ever have before....I'm smarter at spending my money than I ever have been before.

Man that's horrible. I'm working on getting onto another department in another state now and I'm hoping that their budget holds long enough for them to hire me.
