In the Avengers Loki brought an army for the team to deal with. It seems like the working theory on these forums is that Ultron may be the next Avengers villain, but whether it's Ultron or Thanos or some other threat, how do you think the action/battle scenes will play out?

Either of these villains could be depicted as a physical threat to any of the Avengers. However, it'd be strange to see each Avenger line up to take on Ultron or Thanos one at a time. IDK about you but I would love to see a Hulk hay-maker punch not even put a dent in a heavily shielded Ultron. Do you think these villains will gather armies as well? Perhaps an Ultron synthezoid army. Or maybe we will see the Chitauri again. What do you think?

Given the speculation that Stark Tower will be converted into Avengers Tower for Avengers 2, I'd like to maybe see some training room sequences gone awry or the team getting trapped inside the building by Ultron. Just some ideas.

Seeing how GOTG, will be put out a year before Avengers 2, it's pretty much a sure bet that Thanos is next on the roster.

I know "Thanos" is the hot commodity around here, but I really hope it's Ultron although I don't want him to build his own army. I think his indestructibilty, weapons, super strength, and ability to control all technology is more than enough to make him a serious threat.

I'd also like to see Thor getting his very own "big hero" moment in the climax, because he really didn't have much screentime in TA's final battle.

That's a great idea!

a giant Ultron to do battle with Giant-Man

Well, Joss did say he wants a smaller, more focused Avengers movie sequel.

Maybe instead of fighting and defeating Ultron, Ulton actually wins.

Then the Avengers are forced to act as a rebellion army carrying out small strikes against Ultron ultimately leading up to Ultron's defeat.

Joss Whedon has indeed stated that he wants the next picture to be smaller in scope and more intimate. To me, that's a refreshing thing to hear in an age where every sequel is promised to be "bigger and better" and rarely is.

I would agree with the Thanos idea if it weren't for the above mentioned statement. When I read that statement I can't help but imagine that is going to translate to 'cerebral'. For that, I picture Ultron turning the Avengers in on themselves, playing mind-games and what-not.

Thanos just, for me, feels like a third movie villain. I just can't imagine what could possibly pose a bigger threat than Thanos. I also can't picture how Thanos would be a 'more personal' threat. He's a conqueror. He's a warlord. He isn't one to play subtle head-games. Keep in mind that, in the comics, this is a guy who's primary goal is to commit genocide on a universal scale.

I still expect hints towards Thanos throughout the future movies, but I have to say that, as long as we take Whedon at his word that the movie is going to be smaller in scope, I expect we'll see someone like Ultron first.

Here's an idea have have hank develope the idea of making a super robot and leave as that and for the villian for the second avengers film let Thanos bd it and in Phase III hank fully developes Ultron to protect society from such a threat as Thanos have him go haywire to set up Avengers 3 ?

Sounds awesome

Whether it's Kang, Ultron, or Thanos, I'd like to see more close quarter fights, more brutality. Unlike Loki, the 3 listed above are able to hold their own against the team.

Yeah, Ultron or whoever should have an up close and personal fight with the Avengers, and be smacking them down one by one.

Yeah most definately, as for right now though only Thor, Hulk, and IM are capable of engaging them in physical combat.

Hulk and Thor are much stronger than Ultron so it never made sense for him to smack them around, he should have to use weapons for threm.

Whoever it is then. Imagine Cap, Hawkeye and Widow taking a huge beating and then discovering even their biggest guns couldn't touch the big bad.

Just because it's that way in the comics doesn't mean it has to be in the films. One great thing about Thanos (since we know at worst, he'll be in Avengers 3) will be watching The Hulk try to "puny god" him, and get completely humbled.

I think they should also take advantage of any villains individual properties in the future; if you do a Kang movie, have Kang sending the Avengers through time, running the gauntlet against everything from aliens, to samurai, to dinosaurs. Everything + the kitchen sink.

If you do Ultron, have machinery turning on the Avengers, have anything computer based blowing up in their face, coming to life etc.

Thanos really depends on what enhancements he has, but even at base level, he can throw around Thor and Hulk at the same time.

Maybe Thanos will just appear in GotG and not be defeated in it... Only mildly set back. He goes to consult Death while the Avengers fight Ultron or Kang on Earth. Then he comes back around in Avengers 3 for the final showdown. By then the team would be more fleshed out maybe Marvel will get the necessary rights back to have Spiderman and Thing in the movie to play their respective roles

Perhaps a Terminator Judgement Day Skynet style nuclear strike that Iron Man/Thor/War Machine have to deal with while the others take a crack at Ultron himself.

Assuming we have an Infinity Gauntlet style lead up to whatever film Thanos is in, he will probably manage to apprehend the Soul Gem from Adam Warlock, (a twist, which is why Adam hasnt been confirmed yet) but the team will foil his immediate plans. A win for the team but also a win for Thanos. At which point the Guardians will want to warn the Avengers (Nick Fury?) of the coming threat after the credits. :)

Ultron smacked around class 100 guys in the comics and he's only class 70. It doesn't made an sense, so I figured it would make more since for him to use his weapons to keep Thor and Hulk aways from him.

I totally agree with Kang sending The Avengers through time or Ultron making technology attack the the team. You're right about Thanos being able to throw around Thor and Hulk, that's why I want to save them being "overpowered" for whenever he shows up

He needs to be significantly stronger than both for an arc featuring him to carry any weight

Not really, there's more ways to defeat someone than "physical strength" alone. I'm not saying they should be more powerful than him, I only said they should be stronger.

Ultron has enough weapons at his disposal to still be a "major threat" even though he's not physically stronger than the two strongest Avengers.

Whoever it is then. Imagine Cap, Hawkeye and Widow taking a huge beating and then discovering even their biggest guns couldn't touch the big bad.

Yep, because even though Thor and Hulk are stronger than Ultron he's still indestructible which kind of negates their advantage.

You mean, Ultron: Salvation, starring John Conner.....? I think most audiences already know this movie by heart.

But in answer to the OP, it's pretty much a given that whoever the villain(s) is in TA2, they're going to have lots and lots of cannon fodder for the Avengers to wade through. It's what the Avengers do, and it's what audiences will expect. Dogpiles against a single enemy, even one with godlike powers, don't make for particularly convincing or heroic viewing.

I dont want BigThor getting a BigHead or anything... but i think Thor should be the one to knock Ultron's head clean off. Hulk got his big moment smashing Loki to bits in Avengers and Iron Man has been given plenty of big moments. Give Thor this chance to send modern technology BACK FROM WHENCE IT CAME!

I'm not the "get a big head" type of guy and that wouldn't give me one anyway since I'm not Thor I'm just a fan.

I agree with you though, it was be a nice homage to Thor finishing Ultron off in the "we would have words with thee" storyline.

I know im just messin with you. I admire your dedication.

He didnt really have one of those moments in Avengers so I say HAVE AT THEE VILLAIN! As for the others, Ultron should absorb the gamma radiation from Hulk and turn him into Banner while all of Stark's suits are commandeered so he has to put on the Mark I. (I know both of those things happen in the EMH cartoon. but they were both awesome.)

and probably end with an Inception style flickering of his red eyes before rolling to credits to make it ambiguous whether he is dead (so they dont have to use him anymore) or alive (to show how powerful he is)

In a film against Thanos, he should defeat nearly the entire team with the power of the Infinity Gauntlet and Captain America should get the win here. just because it speaks so much to the power of good v. evil

I know it will never happen, but personally I would love to see WWH played out on the big screen pretty much exactly like the comics. Two 3-hour movies should do it. A billion dollar budget give or take. Maybe by 2020?
