Well in the leaked trailer you can hear Mudflap screaming in a rather comical way and Michael Bay has pretty much stated that he added the twins in as comic relief. He also grabs on to the side of Devastators mouth right before the trailer ends, so there's still a pretty big chance that Mudflap doesn't meet his demise in that particular scene (maybe later ).

This movie is going to be so awesome on the big screen. And with his sword swinging action, no one can claim Optimus did nothing but get beat up and show up late this time.

A vacuum is still a vacuum. If he dies, it would still be more dignified to be stepped on and squashed, like the guy in Lost World:Jurassic Park by the T-rex, than to be sucked up like a dust bunny.
