So, I’m currently writing a screenplay and in one scene the hero is on board a light rail transport on Mars. The protective glass explodes and the hero only has moments to grab an emergency breather mask.

But my question is…how will the Martian air affect his skin? I know it mummifies…but how quickly? He has less than 2 mins to grab the breather for air…but should he also grab a thin protective suit as well? Is that needed?

What happens to the skin and how long does it take?

I can't see the video...but that's Total Recall I bet, isn't it? :P

You already have a train transport to Mars, I can think you can pretty much do whatever you want.

You'd probably freeze to death pretty quick, depending on the season and your location and time of day. Mars is cold.

I'd bet you'd have 2 minutes before you froze though. Hypothermia takes a while to set in, unless your blood crystallizes before that...
