Relativity Media Hires Hunter-Killer
Source: Variety
October 1, 2008

Relativity Media has acquired Hunter-Killer, a spec script that was written by producer Arne Schmidt. Pierre Morel (District B13) is negotiating to direct.

Relativity's Ryan Kavanaugh will produce with Original Films' Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe.

The project is based on the novel "Firing Point," by Don Keith and George Wallace, about an American sub commander and a Navy SEAL team that must rescue the Russian president and defeat a renegade admiral who's attempting a coup.

I like the sound of this, I haven't seen either of the directors other movies but Ive read decent reviews for them.

Phillip Noyce to Direct Hunter Killer

Source: Relativity Media
February 17, 2011

Relativity Media has closed a deal with Phillip Noyce (Salt, The Bone Collector) to direct their upcoming Hunter Killer, based on the novel "Firing Point" by George Wallace ("Final Bearing") Cdr. USN Ret. and Don Keith ("Final Bearing"). Production is targeted to start in late 2011.

Noyce, known for international action-thrillers such as Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, will helm the film based on the script penned by Jamie Moss (X-Men: First Class, Escape From New York), John Kolvenbach (Coney Island) and Arne Schmidt (Chain Reaction).

Hunter Killer follows an untested submarine captain who must work with a Navy SEAL team to rescue the Russian president, who has been taken prisoner during a military coup, in an effort to stop a rogue Russian General from igniting World War III.

The film is being produced by Original Film's Neal Moritz (Battle: Los Angeles) and Toby Jaffe (Prom Night), and Relativity's Ryan Kavanaugh (Immortals). Relativity's President of Worldwide Production Tucker Tooley (The Fighter) will serve as Executive Producer.

Noyce is a client of UTA and was represented by them in the deal. The deal was first reported by Moviehole.

Antoine Fuqua Eyes Hunter Killer

Just one day after it was announced that director Antoine Fuqua would be tackling a feature-length television documentary on Suge Knight, Variety reports that the talent is in discussions to take over Relativity's Hunter Killer.

Originally developed for Phillip Noyce to direct, Hunter Killer adapts the unpublished novel "Firing Point" by Don Keith and George Wallace. It tells the story of a team of NAVY Seals in a submarine sent on a mission to Russia to stop an admiral from starting war with America.

Fuqua is best known for helming Training Day in 2001. He followed that with Tears of the Sun, King Arthur and, most recently, Brooklyn's Finest.

I approve. I hold Training Day, Tears of the Sun, Shooter and Brooklyn's Finest very highly.

A movie about Russians? Can't have that without Peter Stomare.

Meh, Fuqua hasn't made a good movie since Training Day.

Aside from Tears of the Sun, Shooter and Brooklyn's Finest that is...

I think he's underrated, I really liked Shooter in particular of his post Training Day efforts.

I thought Shooter was alright and I could't even finish Tears of the Sun.

Martin Campbell Targets Hunter Killer
TheWrap reports that Casino Royale and Green Lantern helmer Martin Campbell is eyeing the director's chair on Relativity Media's Hunter Killer. Phillip Noyce, Antoine Fuqua and McG were previously said to be attached to direct.

Based on the novel "Firing Point" by Don Keith and George Wallace, Hunter Killer follows an untested submarine captain who must work with a Navy SEAL team to rescue the Russian president, who has been taken prisoner during a military coup, in an effort to stop a rogue Russian General from igniting World War III.

Hunter Killer will be produced by Toby Jaffe and Neal Mortiz with Tucker Tooley executive producing.

Notice that Hunter Rider is the only one posting news about a film called Hunter Killer. Coincidence? I think not.

Lionsgate Buys Gerard Butler-Gary Oldman Thriller ‘Hunter Killer’ for October Release

Lionsgate has bought the action-thriller “Hunter Killer,” starring Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Michael Nyqvist, and Common, and given it an Oct. 26 release date.

The film is directed by Donovan Marsh from a script by Arne Schmidt and Jamie Moss from the 2012 novel “Firing Point,” by Don Keith and George Wallace. The film has had a quirky journey to the big screen. “Hunter Killer,” produced by Neal Moritz, was originally developed at Relativity Media in 2015 with CEO Ryan Kavanaugh on board to produce — before Relativity filed for bankruptcy protection.

Man that looks like the greatest movie of 1998.

It will be Trump's favorite movie.

:whatever:

Gerard Butler, dodgy CGI, esteemed actor getting a quick paycheck. Yep, sure seems like Millennium Films film.

Hopefully it'll be decent Butler cheese like Olympus Has Fallen, and not bad cheese like Geostorm or London Has Fallen.
