The only way this would EVER be possible is have a convention that actually is several conventions in different cities at small locals...
Each city has one.

For Instance:
Hype Con 2008 - Houston
Hype Con 2008 - LA

Many of those on Hype simply dont have the money to fly anywhere...so driving to a nearby city is a better option
