It's down to the top six and, this week, our Idol-wannabes have encountered a few surprises - but not all of them!

THIS... IS HYPE! IDOL!

The themes of the previous weeks (last week's show included) have been relatively simple. They pick a song and they sing it, right? Well, not this week. Tonight's show features a theme that's more of a challenge. Each contestant was given the responsibility to choose a song for another contestant. Will they choose songs that helps their competition - or hurt them?

For the time being, the song-choosers will remain unknown. Even the contestants don't know who chose their song. But I can bet that some of them are pretty curious.

DBella and Colossal Spoons are back this week with Erzengel to complete our usual panel of judges. Did you miss them? I sure didn't. :o

After our commercial break, prepare to experience perhaps the most interesting Hype! Idol yet.

We threw the contestants a curveball this week which leads me to our next spokesperson. He never really played professional baseball but some might believe he did based on his movie roles.

Hey Folks. I'm Kevin Costner, since I'm the star of Bull Durham, For The Love Of The Game, and Field Of Dreams I was asked by Showtime...

So what are you, some kind of triple threat? Listen Kevin, get your hand out of your pocket you're embarassing us. Since I am much more relevant at this stage of my career I am stepping in.

You're walking away Kevin? Why don't you stick around?

Anyway, I'm here to tell you this is a singing competition, so dance on your own time will ya? Don't be a child and make fun of the posters, find something to vote with.

One more thing, I like Ike.

Hype! Idol is back! Now on to the performances!

I Wanna Be With You is Star‘s song for the night, originally performed by Mandy Moore.

Star - I Wanna Be With You, Mandy Moore

Like the performance, judges?

Colossal Spoons: "Pretty good but a tad short. Let's hear more of that voice, woman."

DBella: "Star, you have such a sweet voice and I do enjoy some parts of the song but some parts you sound a bit out of tune. Not sure if this is a good song choice for you. My favorite of yours is still your Madonna song."

Erzengel: "I can almost see it. Energy. But it's not quite there yet. Also, just like Shlee, you should have recorded a bit more."

And now it‘s JP with The Beatles‘ Hey Jude.

Hey judges, did he make it bad?

Colossal Spoons: "Good job dood. Loved this performance, especially the "nananana" part"

DBella: "I LOVE The Beatles and therefore I tend to have quite... high expectations when others sing their songs. I thought you're alright at the beginning, that you put enough emotions to it to make listening quite enjoyable, but I can't say the same towards the end. It was quite pitchy and the high notes, although it was a brave attempt, I didn't quite like it. Sorry."

Erzengel: "This was alright, I wasn't necessarily blown away by your performance. It wasn't really consistent and sometimes you were off key."

Tonight ObakeTora will be singing Stevie Wonder‘s I Never Dreamed You‘d Leave In Summer.

ObakeTora - I Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer, Stevie Wonder

Do you dream he‘ll be leaving tomorrow, judges?

Colossal Spoons: "Great job as usual. This one was a little rough on my speakers though."

DBella: "Sound quality of the recording is bad. :( However, you continue to shine in spite of that! I never dreamed you'd leave this competition and you better not coz you are da bomb!"

Erzengel: "You lucked out with this challenge by having a song that was truly right for you. However, I don't think your microphone can handle the feedback. :o"

Shlee‘s sending you Forget Me Nots with this Patrice Rushen song.

Shlee - Forget Me Nots, Patrice Rushen

Judges, will you forget her not?

Colossal Spoons: "Fantastic. I love that song."

DBella: "Darlin', you definitely can sing! You have such a beautiful voice that I look forward to this competition every week just to hear you sing! Love it!"

Erzengel: "After hearing so many showtunes from you, it's refreshing to hear you do something that isn't. But I think you really did great this week especially towards the end. I only wish you recorded more of it."

Next is knowsbleed and he, like City High, wonders What Would You Do?

knowsbleed - What Would You Do, City High

Judges?

Colossal Spoons: "Keep it up, dawg. These slower songs are more your style."

DBella: "I think you'd do well in this... genre but with this song, I feel that there's not enough energy coming from you. However I am not familiar with the song and maybe that's how it's supposed to be. I do like your tone though and my favorite from you is still the Disco week, so far."

Erzengel: "I have to admit, this is better than what you have previously submitted. It finally sounds like you are trying to sing a song and get into it."

Here’s Majik1387 with the Britney Spears hit, I‘m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.

Majik1387 - I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman

How‘d he do, judges?

Colossal Spoons: "Contrary to my other judges' reviews; I don't think you sounded bored at all. That's just an "interesting" song. Just don't do it again :("

DBella: "Majik, you sound bored and it rubs off on me. :("

Erzengel: "I know the nature of this week, however, I felt no energy in this song whatsoever. It sounds like you are singing to yourself somewhere when you're bored."

Done listening to all of tonight's performances? Then you're ready to vote.

Tune in tomorrow night to see who will be leaving Hype! Idol!

The show is early.

Great performances everybody.

I would have sang more, if I didn't have a very big time crunch to learn that song. I'd seriously never heard it in my life, and since I didn't want to screw up the entire thing, I figured I'd just learn the first verse and be done with it. :P I'm glad you guys liked it, though, thank you so much!

No more Merkus so I vote for Knows. Great song choice btw Knows.

Simon Cowel would have a field day with one of these contestants this week.

Shlee and Knowsbleed were great.

Everyone else... :(:down I knew this would be my worst week, and I totally agree with the judges. I just tried to be as entertaining as possible.

Wow, I think some of you guys were trying to set each other up. :o

This week is so bad the normal posters are running in fear. :(

Yeah, I think that everyones performances were kind of... sup par because they didn't get to pick the song. Learning a song that you aren't at all familiar with is hard. Still, kudos for everyone for trying!

Yes, I'm definitely with Star on that one.

Big props to everyone trying a song that they wouldn't normally pick out for themselves, or a song they may not have ever heard before! It was an interesting week, but I think the weakest so far. For everyone. <3

Oh Shlee  I'd never heard of the song, but you sounded lovely.

I'm surprised. Will Smith sampled it for the Men In Black song.

Pssh, just because he sampled it didn't mean I'd heard the original lol. I didn't even hear the background music the first listen. Now I see!

MIB was the first thing I thought of when I heard Shlee start to sing haha.

Obake =... though I thought that the ending note sounded a little bit warbly. But that may be due to the mic.

I agree that this week was hard but I had fun mixing the beat behind mine (my specialty) so that made it fun for me. It was daunting because I could not find an instrumental, but I said "hell with it, I'll remix it".

Thank Chase and JP for the compliments. This was the first week that I was pretty familiar with the song I sang. All previous weeks were first times with each song.

The themes are getting more and more interesting with each passing week. I hope I'm around to see next weeks theme.

If you do make it, prepare to sing two songs.
