In this thread we will be talking about our viewing experiences with the show. You all are welcome to join, so we'll talk about what we like and/or dislike about the show we're watching.

So let's have us some Sliders!

What is Sliders?
The show follows a group of people, called "Sliders", as they travel ("sliding") between different Earths in parallel universes via a vortex-like wormhole, hoping to return safely to their original Earth Prime. The vortex can only be opened at random intervals on each new world, monitored by a countdown clock on a portable timer that they carry; failure to open the vortex in time would strand the Sliders for 29.7 years in that universe. While waiting for the timer countdown, the group learns about the differences in the alternate Earth from their own, and often become unwillingly involved in events that they must resolve before they can safely leave via the vortex. The travelers have no control over what world they end up in, but continually look for means to find Earth Prime..

Can't wait to get back into this one. I loved it as a kid, and I'm interested to see if it holds up now so many years later.

I'm certain a few jokes will run about Rembrandt getting in the twister sending them to an alternate dimension because....reasons.

He was the only outsider to enter the dimensional portal.

Just watched the first three episodes. The 90s cheese is real. lol There are definitely more than a few WTF moments. As a 10 year old I didn't understand some of it, but now I get a lot about the show and laugh. All in all so far it's pretty damn fun to watch. The comedy is very hit or miss, but the whole adventure already has me hooked again like when I watched it as a kid with my mama and brother. I see why a show like this was something that hooked us. I really catch myself wanting to see where this crew goes next. The characters are even starting to form better than in the two part pilot. For instance I didn't realize that Rembrandt was such a whiny *****, but in episode three he had me laughing a bit.

Part of me wants to just binge it some more right now since I work nights and don't need to do anything until 2 tomorrow, but I don't know if I'm about dat life.

The ending of episode one of season two had me all like:

The 90's is strong with this one, lol.

3 episodes in, and it's entertaining enough. For some reason in my memories of it as a kid, I was thinking they traveled to other worlds a la Stargate or something. Instead it's basically the alternate universe/what if? episode of any sci-fi/genre show stretched out as a whole series. As such, I'm not sure how long it can sustain my interest. I've seen so many of these types of things done in so many ways by various genre shows over the years and I'm used to it being a kind of "one and done" thing. So far it has no real serial "hook," so hopefully they'll introduce a long-term story arc beyond "we want to get home" soon. Otherwise the basic conceit of it's gonna get old with me real fast.

There is the concept pf Cromags, and the concept of a brother from an alternate world, or the concept that Quinn is a child from an alternate Earth, that's why he subconsciously built the dimensional hopping beard trimming machine.
If memory serves correctly.

*Sigh* Aziz could you at least put things in spoiler tags? The Quinn thing is something I never got to in this series as a kid, so that would have been a huge surprise to me.

Sorry dude.
I'll try not to make that error again.

Well thanks for at least changing it. I was going to sue you, but now I guess I'll just let it slide and sue someone else like Toonth.

I was waiting the whole of last month that was left after finishing Luther, so Im gonna blame my broter and his birthday at the start of the month for me forgetting. Im gonna take the dog for a walk then get started.

Those sounds like they could be mildly interesting. Hopefully they get introduced soon.

And the last scene of the S2 premiere was a cheap **** move, imo.

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph I've just seen God, and I swear he was driving a Cadillac"

I think Im gonna at least like the stuff that comes out of Arturro's mouth.

EDIT: Anyone else recognize Roger Cross?

I definitely noticed Roger Cross. My thoughts were, "Curtis! Man black really doesn't crack."

As for Professor Arturo that dude is such a smooth cat. When I grow up I want to be him.

I dont know about crack, but it does put on some weight :oldrazz:

Caught Roger Cross, also seeing a lot of X-Files peeps on here. I'm guessing that means they shot this in Vancouver, lol.

Everything shoots in Vancouver so Im not at all surprised.

"This portal will stay open for 60 seconds, and then it will close in on itself."

THEN GET IN THE GOD DAMN SLIDE!!! I'm loving this show, and I'm liking the characters, but damn if they don't get waste time talking and staring at **** instead of getting their asses in the slide.

That is the one thing that pulls me out of the show is they take precious time to have a heart to heart when they sould be leaping into the hole in the fabric of reality

I'm going to try and catch the first couple episodes this week.

Dont bother after Season 3 guys. Especially after season 4.

e-man is Rembrandt lawd

ok i just finished the two-part pilot. man dem graphics! :awesome:

lol it's definitely dated, and i kinda have a soft spot for alternate reality/dimension stories in general, so i hope this one doesn't disappoint.
everyone is a bit over the top though. Professor Arturo; Walter from Fringe he aint.

Soviet USA was a little interesting

Rembrandt can't sing better than me, nor does he understand my intellectual superiority over the vast majority of the human race. He can't hold my hyphen!
