"I am DOOM! What MODS Dare Stand Against Me! - Part 2

I wouldn't be surprised if they make him telekinetic.

I'm pretty sure that's what we're seeing in the trailer. We see a lot of rocks flying around and I'm assuming he's using telekinesis to hurl them.

I'll say this, for all my complaints I've had about Doom and this production in general, Kebbel's voice sounded pretty imposing in that last TV spot.

It did, I loved how it sounded to be honest, he is not Doom from the comics based on the origin, but Kebbell is a great actor and I look forward to his performance more now I have heard the voice.

Kebbel is the one thing I have zero complaints about. Everything he has said has sounded good and I have no doubt he can pull off the role if they allow him to. Unfortunately we've already seen a lot of evidence that the structure of the film won't allow him to be Doom.

After some of his comments that showed a real knowledge of and respect for comic-book Doom, I'm half hoping someone will consider him to direct the second film (if they make one).

You guys are just so desperate for Domashev to be more like the comic book Dr. Doom that now you're claiming he's a sorcerer based on a half second shot in a trailer, why? Why can't you just be excited for the complete departure and reinvention?

Not sure if this is a joke. But why in creation would I want them to alter what is, arguably, the greatest comic book villain of all time? Who is such as-is?

None of the alterations done in the Trank film or Story films (or even Ultimate comics, which have inspired both aforementioned versions) have made him any better, or come close to being as good.

I really like how he's about to epxlode full of energy:

He really looks like some God-figure, can't wait to see how cyberpunk Latveria might end up? I just imagen Latveria as cyberpunk due to Doom's look.

I really want to sit down with the production designer who thought this was a good idea and understand why they made any of these choices. Just look at that mouth.

He's basically pointing out the hypocrisy in how some people constantly justify this movie's numerous creative liberties they are taking with the source material (it's a reinvention! Body horror! Cronenberg!), but when it comes to Doom, these same folks are making excuses that he will be more similar to his comic book counterpart than he probably will. Which, he has a good point.

Yep. If all the major departures are fine and they're super excited for this portrayal of Domashev, why are they trying to force "sorcery", something Dr. Doom is known for, onto Domashev based on a half second bit of footage when there's been dick all to indicate there'll be anything of the sort.

I get tt Doom's actually using the darkside of the force. It's so obvious he's using energy as a weapon and telekinesis. Those things couldn't possibly be a allegory for magic and sorcery.

Exactly, it's a "have my cake and eat it too" sort of thing. If you're fine with them reinventing everything about the property, you should expect Doom/Domashev to fall under that same criteria.

Domashev is so bad that he's even making the supporters wish he was anything like comic Doom.

I don't understand why Dr. Doom can't be treated the same way Darth Vader was treated in the original Star Wars trilogy. Intelligent, menacing, complicated, cool costume, cool voice, didn't even see his face until the third movie. He didn't even get an on screen origin story until the prequels. He doesn't need to be radically reinvented in order to be a great character. I honestly don't get it.

Because people and their egos think their ideas are better. That's the simple fact of the matter.

I seriously doubt Doom is a sorcerer though. Remember Fox wanted this "dark and gritty" so magic is out of the question. Heck, they didn't even want to acknowledge that Mr. Fantastic stretched but that he bent time and space around him. What kind of crap is that?

That's what I think too. There's no reason to think the filmmakers are interested in the magic angle. It's going to be all scifi.

Additionally, the GA and even a lot of casual fans don't know about Doom using magic, so there's really no incentive to include it given how much liberty has already been taken with the character.

Obviously he is no sorcerer. He is a computer scientist and not a spell caster.

But from what I am observing, his powers have magical elements that could probably be explained in comic book science. Doom from the first 2 movies came off like a half baked Storm from XMen. How do you explain the new Doom breaking apart a chunk of rock? Is he a Earthbender from Avatar?

But in a film that is supposed to be grounded and rooted in science (they have even done those things on the science of the different powers) what is the difference between someone creating a force barrier and something being "Magic"?

Doom's not a sorcerer. Ben is.

He can make tanks disappear.

Well there are scientific theories to creating a force field and make something invisible. Magic is just unexplored science. New Doom clearly looks like he uses green energy. I don't Know, like Green Lantern?!

When you get past all the word games, the comparisons you can apply etc (they certainly aren't inentional imo), Doom is not magical. He's not a sorcerer here.

No one is saying he is a sorcerer. He seems to have a power similar to Scarlet Witch and I consider her powers magical compared to other superheroes.

I said he looked more sorcerer than technomage cause he still has power on a world with no technology.

He seems more sorcerer than no Technomage at this point. I saw a shot of him hitting Reed with a bolt of green energy.

Yes I think you are right. Looking at the last GIF, it seems like Thing is throwing a huge chunk of rock at Doom and Doom just seems to break it apart without using any force lightning or whatever. It's like he is pointing at the rock and it just breaks apart. Looks more magic to me.

I'm getting a definite sorcerer vibe from this version of Doom.

It may not be actual sorcery, and he may have taken a shortcut to it, but its very similar.

Amazing.
