if that's in line with inflation, i wouldn't be too happy...

heck, you may have pushed yourself into a new tax bracket so you end up taking less money home than before. I hate those kinda raises...

    :(

nah . . . I think I'll be ok; plus I quit smoking and that in itself almost equates to a $1.00 raise . . . quit trying to November-Rain on my parade :D :oldrazz:

seriously though, I've been feeling real epiphanic the past couple days . . . I feel like I'm gonna make some major moves in '08 . . . I've been putting off this kids book idea, and I need to stop screwing around and start producing . . .

this whole raise thing is really just superficial, and what I really want is to take any money I can to start investing in my own art studio (going to start w/ a custom made PC, and I need to get a Corel pad or something to that effect)

maybe if my balls get big enough, I will drop everything and move to Chicago . . . (and I mean conservatively dropping everything) where I can be closer to the art field . . . I think I'm old enough to know how to make things work for me, but young enough to quit my job if need be to pursue what I really love to do . . . you only get one shot

btw, i'm guessing qwned is a derivative of pwned? hehe

I got a 7.69% raise around the Spring of last year for passing my PE Exam, now I got an additional 3% kicking in next week.

thanks for stealing my thunder and making my raise look like pocket change, Erz

    haha, seriously though . . . that's awesome . . . I need to start making some real money, or at least a real living . . . at least TRY . . .

it's hard cuz I could end up making this job a career if I REALLY wanted but my heart isn't in it . . . I need to sacrifice for the greater good of me

It was a long time coming. It seemed like years ago I remember only getting less than $0.50 raise. :down

I know you got your degree and everything dude, so you deserve it   you gotta put in the work, and I've been on auto-pilot as far as my life goes for the past few years . . .

for me, it's a lot tougher to lay your balls out on the table though . . . the market is rough for a straight jon in the art field . . . I just gotta say 'fk it' at some point . . .

seriously man . . . I figure, we really do live in the land of opportunity but we're so easily distracted by things that most of us don't live up to our potential . . . it's stupid to play ourselves as a collective people, living in America when we have so many resources at our fingertips . . .

I don't know . . . . maybe it's just New Year's resolution fever, maybe I'm really ready, maybe it's cuz I just watched the whole first season of Heroes in a matter of 3 sittings; but I'm trying to do big things in '08 'fo it's too late :D

I hope everything works out for you man . . . good luck w/ your surgery . . . hope it's nothing too serious, and that it will help you to focus on your work . . . take it as a blessing, you really won't be able to do much else so might as well make the best of it

yeah...i've recently realized that i'm squandering the opportunity my parents gave me by them moving to America. however, regardless of where or who you are...you're either a product of your environment or whatever you make yourself. i'm tired of being a product...i'm ready to make myself.

like i said dude, best of luck. i'm right there with you man. we can effin' do it!!!

thanx dude and what you said is exactly why i look at this surgery as more of an opportunity than a hindrance. it's not life threatening or extremely complicated, but it's something i need to do for myself. this is the biggest challenge i've ever had and i'm taking it head-on. i hope both of us emerge as better versions of ourselves in 09.

    manifest destiny man!

this might sound corny, but I was watching Heroes and I kind of related it to my own life (which I don't think will sound so crazy to you, us all being here on a superhero website) and realized that I have potential . . . talent; in art, music, writing, and that's not a luxury everyone has . . .

if I'm not using it to help others see their way, what am I really doing with my life? like you said, it's just time to stop effing around . . .

hell, maybe we could even collaborate a little . . . I could do a spread or a cover of one of your characters if you gave me a description of design . . . I'm a trained illustrator . . .
