Haha, I give them props for remembering that dude from the cartoon. I know Arnett is going to go nuts.

It's been confirmed? I mean it's pretty likely either way giving the latest set pics.

oh yes!!

for a sec i was worried Arnett was cast as Shredder

I keep thinking about how he was in MIB3

Now I'm waiting to hear about Lena Dunham being cast as Irma. :o

Did he say 'I cheatd on my income tax" in the cartoon? That's pretty witty for a kid's cartoon show especially from the 80's.

Arnett as Vernon is the best casting on this movie so far. :o

Yeah, it was from the episode where some mafia guys kidnapped him.

I don't remember what kind of interaction Vernon had with the turtles in the cartoon. I'm hoping we get some in this movie. If Will plays him like I'm imagining, then I'd love to see the interplay, particularly with Ralph and Mike.

He didn't think they existed at first but in later seasons he became an ally, but still acted like a prick.

Well, thats honestly the best casting I've heard in years. If there was anyone I wanted to play Vernon, it would be Arnett.

Here's hoping no one screws this up.

So does this mean this film will be more like the 87 cartoon series or the comics?

You think the foot clan will be robots? Splinter a human before turning into a rat?

Not complaining, just curious with the addition of a character only seen from the cartoon series.

Well the cartoon is probably the most remembered version of the TMNT. So taking bits from it, much like the IDW comics, will allow a decent mix of stuff. It'll also spark that little nostalgia that's fizzing in the back of peoples heads. They'll see Vernon and link it to watching the cartoon as a kid, tricking them into enjoying the film more.

I agree. As much as I like Arnett, he would've been totally wrong for Shredder (unless he pulled a Mandarin act and revealed himself to be a pill-popping actor... in which case I wouldn't put it past Bay). But yeah, this may be the best news out of this production yet.

So does this mean Burne and Irma are in this too?

I'm surprised that the writers remember good ole cowardly Vernon.

What parts did IDW use for this series. I heard it was taking the best bits from every incarnation, but I haven't read the series yet. Now that the movie is coming out I'm thinking about buying some of the trades.

They've taken just bits. Like Bebop and Rocksteady have turned up, there's other stuff, but it'll spoil it for you. Buy the trades.

I started reading a few months ago, but only got through about #10. Haven't gone past that or read any of the microseries or one-offs yet. The stuff with the mousers at the beginning was almost straight out of the cartoon, in terms of look and their initial attack on a home-alone Splinter. I've been meaning to pick back up with it and get caught up to the current issue.
