I dare you to name one actor who could have been a better Iron Man than RDJ

There are a few actors mentioned above I could seeing doing well in the role

but as for "Being a better Iron Man than RDJ"?
Nope, it is just simply, scientifically, not possible

I think it's a question that has more answers than "not possible" myself. RDJ in th role gave us something great but as mentioned... It's his particular take in films done in a certain way. Ask any long time Bond fans and after years you won't get one overriding answer. And that's with actual films being made with others in the part. Here we are talking hypotheticals.

Agreed, not so humorous (although that's RDJ, Stark wasn't particularly humorous in the comics, was he?) but totally believable for the rest.

Here's where I've always been of two minds on this subject... Yeah, you can easily see how much of his sense of comic timing and humor that RDJ gave to Stark on the screen. That rat-tat-tat quick dialogue thing along with the rapier wit. In a sense it was a bit of re-build of the character and likely going on to be the most influential element on the character going forward for probably decades. In the future every single version of Stark will have to have that biting wit and comic timing (which is why I really do think that Ryan Reynolds will wear the armor in the next 7 to ten years...). But that said I do think that Tony Stark in the comics did always have a sense of humor that was on display. He was never Spidey but he had a sense of humor and a sharp sense of irony. RDJ just took that aspect and turned the dial to 110% in a way.

Still you can't deny that from now on whether in animation or live action Iron Man will have to display some kind of aspect that lines up with RDJ's portrayal.

well I was [kind of] joking
like I said, I could see other actors doing something possibly equally as interesting, but in a different way. But do I think anybody could be "better" in the role? No I really don't... For Marvel Studios Tony Stark/Iron Man, he hit the mark as perfectly as possible.

I'm with the folks who said Timothy Dalton. In fact I think he would've been the perfect version of Tony Stark from how he was in the comics before 2008.

RDJ is fantastic and fun to watch, but it's not exactly faithful to what Tony was. RDJ actually made Stark far more charming than he had any business being.
