I dont think i wanna see something like this on the screen these days...

:shock Oh my word... :lmao: That's great! :funny:

Jack's Joker wasn't that good. He was playing himself mostly. He laughed occasionally and was bloated even in the 80s. I always imagined the Joker to be younger and much, much more psychotic. Jack is always fun in every role and I applaud him for that. But he is no definitive Joker so I wish people would stop putting him up on a pedestal.

He was playing The Joker, whether he exhibits similar personality traits in real life is irrelevant. If Brando were secretly a mafia murdering don in real life, it still wouldn't have made his work as The Godfather any less stellar. Anyway, Jack was great and I believe Heath will be even better. Heath really threw himself into the role and I think he's put on the best comic book performance we've yet to come across. From what has been said in the past half year, it's safe to say Heath took his role more serious than most and performed in the style of a method actor. With comic book movies, I've always thought the cast and crew should have fun with their roles, but also dedicate just as much and effort and sincerity as they would in a film about King Lear or the bombing or Hiroshima. And that's what Heath has really done.

I can sort of understand what people mean about Jack playing himself, but not really. I mean, look at him in the movie, and then his other movies. Most of the time he's manic and wild, or quiet and creepy. Not like Jack's usual drawling speech patterns, and slow motions.

Really, what about these scenes aren't the Joker?

And so what if he was a little overweight? Other than that, he looked like the Joker, and, besides, it's not like Heath is the anorexic twig of the comics, either. No, I'm not saying Ledger looks wrong, in fact, I quite like the more square-jawed face. I'm just proving a point. It's hypocritical to criticise Jack for not being the spitting image of the comics, when you can turn around and say looks don't matter, perofmance is more important, yada yada yada.

I'm not saying he's better tha Heath. Heath spent 6 weeks locked in a room to prepare for his role, and he'll be delivering a stellar performance. In all likelyhood, better than Jack's. I'm only saying, just because Heath is doing a good job, doesn't mean Jack was terrible.

Pleeze, Jack's Joker looks closer to the vintage rendition of the comic book Joker than Heath's Joker does.

Heath easily could have looked near identical to the vintage Joker(more than Jack due to his build) but it's not the style Nolan went with.

“He has white skin…
He has red lips…
He has green hair…
He tells jokes that are not funny…
He wears purple...
And, he kills people.”

P.S. Actually I think that outside of the Chelsea Smile, Heath looks more like the original drawings of the Joker than any other rendition.

P.S.S. Who ever deleted my stuff did some lazy editing at a mod. I have mod other forums and when things are way to hostel you edit out the bad parts, not delete them outright. Sloppy, sloppy moding. :whatever:

Excellent picture, still probably my favorite of Heath's Joker to date. I think it captures the spirit of this Joker well. But actually, I do not see much Heath Ledger in Bob Kane's Joker appearance wise. The similarities in appearance are basically just the essentials that the Bermejo quote states. What you simply have there is a picture of Heath pulling off excellent mannerisms and tone reminiscent of Kane's original Joker. The shots being so similar, especially neither smiling, is what makes them look so close. Because conversely, the same can be done with Nicholson and Kane's Joker when you have a shot with similar lighting, tone, expression.

As such:

Right!

Hence why I am still wondering why people are arguing who's is "better".

All this thread reminds me of is the whole Batmobile VS Tumbler debate three(?) years ago.

To point out one more thing, there's one Bolland drawing of the Joker that really resembles Heath. I don't mean The Dark Knight Joker, but Heath Ledger himself. In facial features, they look very, very similar. I would look for the pic but I'm terribly tired right now, I'll grab it tomorrow.

Cool beans! Let me know when you find it, I would love to see it!

Well...I guess if one good thing came out of this thread it would be this hilarious image:

I actually see Jack's Joker being very close to TAS Joker but I don't care what anyone says, TAS Joker will ALWAYS be the best Joker incarnation that's not in the comics.

Yeah, it's too bad that Jack has let himself go like that.

Yep. Even my uncle is the same age as him & he isn't fat like Jack is on those pics. In fact, he is quite fit for his age than Jack. It even funny since my uncle doesn't even work out. :D :D

I think it'd be best if everyone in the world tried to stay in shape. That's why starting today for a whole month I'm cutting out chips, candy, etc. The only junk food I may eat will be fast food. Other than that, I won't be eating a lot of junk. I'm trying to give my body a chance to lose some more fat so I don't end up like that thing in the picture above.

Thats a bit harsh everyone is different some of us are overweight some are skinny i could say everyone should stay clear of abuse of perscription drugs or they could wind up dead like ledger (insert picture of him being carried away) but im better then that.

Heath Ledger's death was a tragedy. The same way it's harsh to criticize Nicholson for being overweight, it's also harsh to tread on Ledger's grave by taking shots at him now.

hey damien is causing a ruckus...what else is new...

p.s. I thought this was the Heath celebration thread. He usually dances on his grave there.

DD was doing that same thing over at Batman on Film. He seems to have a hatred for Ledger for whatever reason, and he's made it clear since he was casted.
