Look folks, I don't usually come to this board because I see a bunch of one sided jargon and everyone has too tippy toe around the borderline of being politically correct(lmfao, btw). But, I gotta vent. Hope it doesn't get me wrote up.
Anyway, the title of the thread says it all. Every now and again, on facebook, on the radio, at a fast food joint, at a gym, etc I overhear someone say how much they can't stand the United States, then proceed to run it into the ground. This happened when Bush and his one sided group was in charge, and now with Obama and his one side group in charge. And it happened again today.
When I hear this, I have to fight back the instinctive urge to knock that person's backwards hat/visor/indoor sunglasses off their head and go on a verbal rampage. Ya know whats so great about America, first off, is that you can actually voice opinions. Go to some third world, AIDS infested hell hole that still cannot build roads on their own despite funding and teaching from US and talk about how bad it is there. Prepare to say goodbye to one of your hands, possibly both. Barbaric, right? Yea, neanderthals still walk amongst us.
So, do I throw out the cliche "Love it or leave it" saying? I would, but geuss what, YOU CANNOT GO ANYWHERE. Why? You know how people complain that we won't just let anyone and everyone waltz on into the country? Geuss what, we are one of the easier countries to gain citizenship in and we have some of the softest policies regarding what we do with captured illegal aliens. In order to get into alot of the better countries in this world, you better be 25, have a masters degree or two, and be in perfect health. Oh, and some loot Otherwise, it's not happening. Does anyone remember when the Mexican President made a visit to the United States and felt like he the right to critique us on how we deal with illegals? Yea, that was rich considering Mexico what are possibly the harshest penalties for captured illegal aliens. Too bad the media, both liberal and conservative, didn't have enough balls to mention that one. Incompetent talking heads. Hey, Mr. Mexican President whom I don't have enough respect for to make I get your name right, maybe if you made your country a better place then people may actually want to stay there, eliminating the issue alltogether. It's just easier to pass your problems off on us though, right! General Santa Anna would be ashamed of you. Now go drown your sorrows in a Soaphilla, but hold off on the sour cream until you get busy correcting your countries crappy course of direction.
Who saved the world as we know it, not once but twice in World War's One and Two? WE DID. Who funded the restoration of Europe and Japan after World War Two, even though Germany and Japan had just been our bitter opponents? WE DID. Who has provided relief, education, and business to the world in order to make it a better place for last 60 years without asking for anything in return? THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I didn't see Great Britian, or France, or the Netherlands, or Australia, or China, or Japan, or Russia, or anyone else donate the millions and millions of dollars in Haiti in their darkest hour. The United States did, and they did so with their own citizens, men, women, and children starving and in need of help more than ever. I take issue with that as well, but thats another rant for another day.
Now, I focus my rant on big business. Big business has gotten about as Anti-American as something can be. I understand that capitalism is about money. It's about making a profit. But these big businesses that go oversea's are killing the country right now. And the more we talk about stripping them of their tax loopholes for the greater good of the country, they turn around and threaten to send even more work oversea's. My initial reaction is too say SCREW YOU. My second reaction is too say, enjoy looking at the profit margin on the account balance report after this country has fallen on it's face and we are under the rule of some foreign led Authoritarian Government....or our Federal Government itself makes the true transformation into such an entity. Look, for the sake of your country, the country that gives you that ability to start off with a coffee cup and a pot to piss in, and go from that gold lined pockets, bite the bullet in the short term for the good of the long term. All the solutions that the "Powers That Be" have come up with in the last few years are band aids over bullet wound, short term fixes. As a country, we need to start thinking long term. And we cannot force these big businesses into change, because at the end of the day it goes against the principles of how this country was created. But we can make a human plea, and if that doesn't work, we ourselves bite the necessary bullet and boycott companies that aren't American oriented. Spend a few more dollars at the mom and pop stores until Wal-Mart brings business back from oversea's while also buckling your belt where you can so you don't go broke. This country is for the people, by the people, and it's time we stop letting the talking heads try to solve our problems.
And I think capatilism trumps socialism in that it is mean't to give everyone a chance at making themselves into what they wish too be. You gotta want it, but it can happen. It's also set up as a tri-pod(TheGirl Next Door reference, anyone?) Socialism/Communism is set up with two sides, rich and poor. Like your standard 16th-19th century folklore says. Robin Hood, for example. The wonder of The United States was that it is supposed to be a three-way dance. Rich, poor, and the middle man. And the biggest victim in all of this turmoil is the middle man. Everything I read, see, and newly minted regulation is about the rich and the poor, as the middle class erodes into nothing. No, welfare isn't middle class, so don't pull that BS. Prices for, well, everything continue rising. The rich can handle it. More and more protection for welfare/BELOW poverty level citizens continue coming into existence, protecting them. So, what of the middle class. In this case, it sucks to be the meat between the buns. The middle class has to pay these increasing prices, and at the same time they pay for these new social programs while recieving no protection. This will lead to the majority of them becoming part of the poor class over time, with some ascending to riches. All of this defeats the purpose of the tri-pod. The middle class needs a champion, and they need one fast.
Ok, I am done ranting. I could go on and on, but this is enough for now.
