So yeah, Comcast sucks.

They drop a $200 bill on me for this month and next's services (cable and internet) and tell me the first $100 is past due (I signed up for e-statements and NEVER got the last one). But the next month I'm paying for is 6/6-7/5.

I'm gonna try chatting with a CSR to see if they'll cut my bill a little for me. But I doubt it'll work.

I'm VERY tempted to just abandon cable altogether and use online streaming for sports (it'll suck, but I can live with it) along with Netflix for movies and Hulu Plus for TV shows.

I need some input and thoughts, please and thank you!

As long as comcast isn't your internet provider..go for it!

I cancelled my tv a few years back and felt sorry about not doing it sooner..totally don't need it nowadays if you have a half-way decent connection and, (in some cases), monitor setup..

With Hulu + and Netflix streaming you can give the middle finger to Comcast, just like everyone should!

I agree. Dump 'em, even if it's your ISP just retain your internet access, while that might go up a bit since it won't be bundled anymore, but it still be worth it in the long run.

Next year, when my Dish Contract runs up for the wife, I'm going to be killing it since I'm not to fond of TV except a few shows, and the wife can watch it online when I'm not home or the alike. Save me some cash in the long run.

I never thought I would hate any tv company more than comcast, but **** DISH NETWORK.

As for Comcast, apparently if you know what you're doing, and can get a hold of a comcast cable box, you can still get their basic cable for free.

Very true...forgot about that! I think the trick is getting the cable box...meaning the older type they used to have, right? I actually tried asking for one from the company and,(surprise, surprise), they said "they didn't have those anymore".

..yeah, I know..what do you expect 'em to say right? I figured what the hell and asked anyway...

Yeah, but I am sure ebay or craig's list will have plenty. Although I am not sure if you need an older one or a new one or just one of the digital converter boxes.

Yeah..I'm thinking it might work with one of the older ones..a friend of mine still has theirs and gets dirt-cheap basic cable. Well...last I heard they did..I haven't talked to 'em in a while so that may still not be the case..but for a while there they had an ancient relic of a plan, heh heh..

Maybe with the digital conveter...maybe...

I hate Comcast as well. They use to be the only provider here. They eventually got bought by TW and that wasn't any better. As soon as AT&T Uverse became available we jumped on it. No complaints with them.

Ugh - I wish I could ditch comcast but for any comparable price [AT&T Uverse isn't available in my area] - there is no competition for their speeds. :(

I've got a Verizon FIOS Triple package that includes a good phone service, TV with a sh** loads of channels, and a very high speed internet. When I started I used to pay about $120 for all three because it included several discounts. Now my bill is about $165 and i'm planing to talk with a representative to ask if there's another deal going on that could lower my bill.

Well I've always heard the best way to get a deal is see what other companies, AT&T, Comcast, et cetera offer similar service in your area and that is your bargaining chip. The companies know who else is offering what, so if there aren't any competitive services, you're SOL.

At least you don't have AT&T. Every day they further gimp our service to try and get people to go over to their new "U-Verse" service. Eventually they're going to start lowering the data cap on their standard service in order to weed out all us pesky Hulu and Netflix users, because they have a monopoly and they can get away with it.

Ugh...lame. Man big biz just loves to give it to their customer's.

Hell, they don't even sleep over. Ughh...yeah...I got work in the morning.

I cancelled my cable services... saves me around $40/month.

Subscribing to Hulu Plus later this weekend, and even got $110 credited toward my bill

And I just plugged in the old cable that ran from the DC Box and have like 60 channels :o
