Our heater has a problem... I would like to ask some service technicians on opinions.

Sometimes it goes on for long time having heat. But occasionally the heat doesn't come on (I am guessing no ignite), then we had to turn the thermostat off and on again, and it worked.

Anyone know what causes this?

And, if it's dangerous or would break the heater if we don't turn the thermostat off, or not? I wouldn't think this would break the heater, but like to ask some expert opinions.

I'm not a technician but I've had to deal with heater problems before. In my case it was a thermal coupler that broke and caused the heat to go out entirely. It's possibly a similar situation for you, maybe yours is damaged in some way.

Whatever the problem is, you'll want to have someone who is a professional take a look at it to make sure it isn't a more significant problem.

No, the heater does not go out entirely. If you turn it off and on again, at some point, heat is back on!

A technician did visit, but he think everything looks normal, except a hard time pinpoint the exact cause. He suggested a few possibilities, and is going to send another technician to take a look... which makes this really a weird issue.

That does sound weird. It might be an electrical thing with the thermostat then. Although presumably he looked at it too.

I read this thread title and immediately thought it was a braincrusher thread
