You've got so much faith you made 2 threads on it.:p

I'm much more optimistic about FF2 than thought i'd be.Story and co. have been doing their homework.

I remember some people saying the samething about Brett Ratner.

And things didn't actually work very well for the x-franchise, afterall.

Then again, x-men had a franchise to be destroyed. Fantastic four can only get better...

I find irrational optimism to be exactly as offensive as irrational pessimism.

I wouldn't call it "irrational." Story's obviously well aware they got a lot of stuff wrong in FF1. His blog makes it clear they're making much-needed improvements to Doom and the Thing.

I mean after all, it can only get better.

I walked out of the first FF film feeling like my heart had been ripped out.
If I walk out of FF2 feeling like I've had open heart surgery, hey, that's an improvement! ;)

Now, I don't share Hansolo786's EXTREME ALL-CAPS OPTIMISM  but I do think there's good reason at this point to hope that this movie will suck substantially less than the first.

PLEEEEAASSE, don't say that! That could be one of those "famous last words" kinda things. The BIG problem we gotta remember is that this is a Fox film. And Fox will come in and take a great movie and screw it up on a whim! I FEAR to think how they could make it worse!

Why? The first movie was horrible and completely ruined Dr. Doom.

People talk about the first one like it was the worst Marvel movie out there, but they seem to forget the cream of the crap, Blade: Trinity and The Punisher.
Compared to that, Fantastic Four was pure class.

The first FF was pure saturday morning cartoon in live action mode, the second will be more of the same.
Yes, it is hard to make it worst than the 1st, but that´s not totally impossible.
Don´t forget that the first dealt with the origin of the team, this one deals with a lot more than that.

I loved the first FF movie...I've seen it quite a few times on DVD. :) I have faith the 2nd will blow it away though.

This is where people go to talk about the Fantastic Four movies. I had no interest in seeing Daredevil, Elektra, Blade:Trinity or the Punisher.
F4 was by far the worst Marvel movie I've seen.

I'm taking a wild guess that you never saw Reb Brown as Captain America;)

Story knows what he did wrong last time and I believe FF2 will be much better.

Oh... you would have loved the see through shield that doubled as his motorcycle's windshield. Rather than red and white... it was red and clear.

My jury is still out, but I will say that I'm extremely encouraged by what I've been reading thusfar. My glass remains half full.

Everything we're hearing so far sounds good. Sure there's a real possibility things could fall apart, but would we rather hear the right things but worry things could still go wrong or hear the wrong things and KNOW things will go wrong?

In some ways, the lowered expectations we got from the first film are a good thing. It's like rooting for a team that had a 7 - 9 record last year. In many ways, it's more enjoyable looking forward to the next season than it would be if they won the Super-Bowl last year and now have to repeat just so we won't be disappointed.

which helmet?

I just found both of the Reb Brown Captain America movies on vhs for super cheap and bought them. Yes, Ive seen them before and they are much worse than the first Fantastic Four movie, but something I can appreciate in both of them - is the heart. X3 totally lacked heart but I know FF2 will be full of it. Its gonna be GREAT!
