Why do people choose to take a role in a movie and sya they'd lvoe, and then say that they hated it or something like that?

Here's an example. Ben Affleck said he was a fan of Daredevil when he took the role and was pretty happy. Them n, when he was asked if he would reprise his role in a sequal, he said he never wanted to do it again because it was embarrassresing. If it was embarrassreing, then why bother doing it?

I'm sure Jim Carrey loved playing Ace Ventura.

But as it was proven with the horrible sequel, sometimes it's best to play certain characters just once.

In the case of Ben Affleck....do you really blame him? Possibly the smartest career move he's ever made.

Jim Carrey was contractually obligated to do Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls...he's not a fan of doing sequels.

As far as Affleck is concerned, he got all high and mighty after playing George Reeves and realizing how much Reeves hated the Superman costume. So in turn, in playing Reeves, he eventually developed the same disdain for dressing up as a superhero.

Whatever... :whatever:

cause at the time it sounds like a good idea, then when they actually doing it, (after they are already under contract) or after its all said and done, they realize, hey, this stinks

its not like they go into these these projects knowing they going to hate it, or how embarrassing its going to be

It's not exactly the most professional thing to do as an actor , saying that you hated playing in role/movie , when the movie came out.
It's not only bad buzz for the flick ( and therfore your salary/rep) but also proves problems for future projects .
Like many others said , money also plays a role. SOmeone is paying you to play in their movie and no matter how ****** the movie turns out to be , in the end YOU are getting paid.

Not to mention the contractual obligations that many actors have with franchises. If you're contractually obligated to appear in a sequel , the best you can do is just to put on your happy face . Complaining about how bad a movie turned out to be or that you hated working on a particular movie will most likely result in getting a smaller role.

Actors need exposure and the more exposure they have , the better. Obviously there is a limit but you understand what i mean :cwink:.
It's better to have rather large roles in movies then smaller ones because ultimately in studio exec. AND audience members knowing who you are and what you can do. Of course actors need to act good and not simply be there for the money ( Anthony Hopkins in that Chris Rock movie.....) but again it comes down to being noticed. SOmetimes working on bad movies ultimately leads them to being cast in good movies.

remember when hugh jackman was on some talk show and said X3 was the best of them all..do you really think hugh didnt know it was a ****** film?

I think it has more to do with everyone saying the Daredevil movie sucked and that he ruined the character.

I mean, Ghostrider sucked and you don't see Nic Cage saying he wants to do another one.

Oh wait. Nevermind.

:csad:

Affleck apparently wasn't happy with the quality of DAREDEVIL. He wanted a completely serious film, and had been promised one. Reportedly, like Christian Bale with BATMAN BEGINS, he agreed to star in it before the script/approach was even finalized. Life lesson, I guess.

If the film doesn't work out well of course they will likely take a shot at it and jump on the bandwagon but if they really cared they would try to throw in a little defensive statement or say something positive about the experience. A smarter actor would of figured out how to do that .

LOL! Actually, I think it's more along the lines Ben thought the movie would not be glossy ball of head cheese when he was filming it. But a real fan should have complained that just the costume made no sense for a guy who runs alot and has heightened hearing to wear a Leather/ PVC gimp suit.

You would think actors would realize saying "no" to a superhero movie by Fox is the best thing you can do for your career....

To say nothing of the fact that much of the content in Daredevil that would have put it in a more serious tone was cut from the theatrical version. I honestly think the film would have been far more well-received had the director's cut been what people saw in the theaters.

Oh definitely.....Fox is known for drawing blood in the editing room in order to get more showings per day....

Jennifer Garner did the same thing after Elektra.

Yeah, but she hid behind injuries to not do interviews, instead of promoting it like she should have....

I didn't respect that.....you may not like the movie, but you still promote it as a part of your job. You don't have to gush all over it, but you can still talk about it on a talk show.

a story on paper is a lot different then wearing a leather suit on set .
sometimes something sounds good no paper.

if i remember correctly after filming Blade trinity Snipes didnt want to promote the movie because he didnt like the finished movie.

some actors stand by what they say. some dont. i think Hugh is a ''yes'' man.

can you promote a movie without talking positive about it? because then it means that she would lie.

The explanation is simple.

You like Batman, right? I mean who DOESN'T? Okay now, what if you were an actor and asked to star in a Batman movie. Awesome, right? Sneaking around in the dark, being a grumpy Gus, and getting into all kinds of crazy shenanigans. Doesn't get any better than that.

Now imagine if that movie turned out to be Batman and Robin.

not exactly the same. because the actor was reading the script

''and then bbatman shows hes bat-visa''

I remember in some news story or interview with Snipes he was complaining mainly about the supporting cast.

It had to do with Snipes whining because he thought they were giving him the shaft in the film to set up a possible Nightstalkers film(which I don't think ever made it to paper anyways).

Sure just go in talk about it....not once have I heard Leno or anyone ask if they liked the movie...

Hell alot of times they talk and talk and talk, and only mention the movie...

I'm sure they could find a good scene to show, she could talk about the stunts, getting ready for the role again, and move on from there.
