The Dark Knight I know Babydoll won't be in TDK but I always thought...

couldn't she be a legal release for pedophiles? They're happy, she's happy, and it's not illegal
weel its kinda truw shes like freaking 35 or something and still looks like a 12 year old girl!lol perfectly Legal!

This discussion reminds me of the article I read concerning the 'Peter Pan treatment' in which a girl's uterus and breast (something in the breasts) were removed, therefore making her a young girl forever. Albeit her parents wanted her this way because she was severely handicapped physically and mentally and didn't want her to be heavier when moving her around, amongst various other reasons.

I presume the nefarious "something in the breasts" would be the actual mammary glands. I think I heard mention of this story a day or two ago. I don't know exactly what to even say about that. I mean I understand a number of practical reasons behind it. But on the other hand it seems like a slippery slope. I mean if she's so handicapped that her getting her period gives them one more thing to have to clean up; and they have to move her around and etc, and she's never going to reproduce anyway, I can see how they justified it, but I'm not convinced it makes it right. I mean how many steps away is that from just going, "well, she can never live a normal life and we're sick of wiping her ass, so let's have her put to sleep."

You know what I mean? My skin crawls.

Well if you know 100% sure if her life is gon' be that bad....putting her to sleep ain't exactly uncalled for. I'd actually even go as far as to say it's more horrible letting her live.

Arguably, yes. But it would still seem wrong to do so.

I guess I feel as though a child is not a fish; you can't throw her back if she isn't what you had in mind.

Simply menacing.

True, but on the flipside, you could call it selfish letting someone into such a painful life for your own benefit (that of a parent not wanting to see their children go).

I wouldn't wanna see the character on film, though I thought Babydoll was a decent character in her one time appearance.

I agree. If this was, say, a TV show we were talking about, I think that would be a better fit. But a movie? No.

Gary Coleman!!!

Please? Wiping a handicapped girl's ass for the rest of your life could hardly be called selfish. If anything it's a royal pain in the ass. You can't carry on a conversation with her, you can't ever see her grow up and start her own life and give you any grandchildren. She'll never do any of the things you expected your offspring to do. She'll never really get to live. For her part she probably doesn't know the difference. But you, as the perent, would. It would be a heartbreaking thing to have that child in your life. I don't think that can possibly be construed as selfish. It only makes your life harder having her around. Not easier.

That's all from the perspective of the parent. When I brought out selfishness, I was talking about taking things in the child's pov, which leads me to:

She'll never really get to live.
Exactly.

For her part she probably doesn't know the difference.
"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free."

:o

Idk, wouldn't signaling the decision to kill off your offspring be MUCH more difficult to handle rather than having them around, albeit in a difficult position?

You guys could delete this thread if you want. I'm done with you if you guys are too.

Yeah, that's why it doesn't count. :p
how exactly does that not make it count?lol it was actually a good Valid episode, they showed how BabyDoll and Croc met each other in Arkham Asylum, and fell in love. it was a cool ep

Babydoll's great for TV eps, and Dakota Fanning would be the awesomest in the role ever. Cuz, lets face it, she's the most talented kid we know... but the character isn't epic enough for the Bat-movies. Furthermore, Dakota isn't going to be young for much longer, and something tells me puberty will not be kind to her...

Hmmm, Babydoll reminds of Kirsten Dunst in Interview With The Vampire. I guess it would have to be something like that if they ever put it on film, wich they won't. I don't think they will anyways.
