I still can't believe we're getting the origin of Venom

After seeing '2' I always hoped I would see Spidey in his black suit on screen. Seeing Spidey wear the symbiote on screen coupled with the origin of Venom was something I never thought any Director would have the balls to do. It's such a dark storyline that targets the longterm hardcore Spider-Man fans who know about Venom and followed the '90's cartoon. You would think a Director would shy away from it since it might not cater to the masses.

But after seeing the trailer I still almost don't believe it's going to be pulled off THIS well. I'm in a state of disbelief.....

Thank you Sam Raimi

whats so hard to believe?

X-Men 3 had parts of the dark phoenix saga where jean grey turns into an insane super powerful chick

Venom saga is about on par with that in X-men an x-men 3 has alrdy came out so venom isn't really much of a big of a leep

The astonishability factor is definitely merited because this is such an unbelievable story. Too unbelievable. So much so that from the way things started in this franchise, many many many board members just laughed at any of us venom lovers who wanted his story told.

Well now i'm going to say what I think every one of us who have been derided over the last year or so wishes to say.

IN YO FACE, BICH!!! HA HA HA HA VENOM'S COMING!!!

Oh well... i'm still miffed about how this seems to contradict raimi's original more realistic intentions with the movies though. He seems to have said, "Oh what the hell, let's just do it. Realism be damned. lol."

Lol how can you even TRY to compare the so-so Dark Phoenix saga to the creation of one of the most badass super villians in comic book history? Not to mention Evil Spiderman PWNS Evil Jean Grey...no contest. SBrooks, well put...I am still in shock over the Symbiote as well...Now if only I can find the remote from Click and fast foward to see the movie NOW....waiting 11 months is gonna kill me :(

Phoenix in X-Men 3 was believeable to the masses because she was portrayed as just another mutant. A super powerful one, but still, another mutant in a movie full of them. Assuming Raimi does this right, the Venom origin has to bring in another element that Ratner's Phoenix didn't have: an alien from space. That's a big change from the science-based (Green Goblin and Doc Ock's origins) storylines from Spidey 1 and 2.

QUE?

WAS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE "POETRY FOR ******S" OR SOMETHING? :O

I'm still sticking with my theory that Venom will headline 4. Going through the entire symbiote catastrophe with Spidey, setting up Eddie Brock. It just doesn't make sense to have him in 10 minutes and never return.

I don't. Venom doesn't need to be in another movie. The final act of SM3 should be the beginning and end of his character. It suits his character and his placement in the story just fine.

They're trying to provide closure with this one, because after this the future franchise is unknown. They aren't going to have a cliffhanger. If SM4 has a whole new cast and crew and turns out to be garbage, I don't want to have to associate it with the three original films. I'd rather have a complete trilogy with all the loose ends tied up.

I'm sure the studios nudged him a couple of times to get more villians and Venom in the story.

Awesomeness. I know some folks say we didn't get a full shot of what Venom is going to look like, but this was good enough for me. :D

Could NOT have put it better myself. Thank you!

Plus, if the buildup to Venom is ultra intense and we get a respectable and blow-us-away kind of finale (10-15min) of Venom -- even if he's defeated and that's that -- I'll still be satisfied.

Many seem to be under the impression that Venom will actually fight Spider-Man in this movie. I prefer the idea of setting up Brock and having Venom make a small appearance at the very end. Keeps up the notion of a sequel, and leaves plenty of space in the movie for Sandman and the new Goblin.

SAME HERE. I'D BE VERY SURPRISED IF SAM DIDN'T COME BACK FOR THE 4TH MOVIE; I THINK HE'LL AT LEAST FINISH WHAT HE'S STARTED. IT WOULDN'T MAKE SENSE TO HAVE 'VENOM' IN ':spidey: 3' AT ALL, IF IT WAS ONLY GOING TO BE FOR A FEW MINUTES.

it is pretty cool to finally get to see this all come to film. remember how long ago they mentioned spidey even being on film. the film was like a 100 years in the making.that's why it seems almost unbelievable.

Amen to that! That's what I'm always trying to explain to people who can't understand the concept of doing a trilogy versus an ongoing series. I'd rather they quit while they're ahead and then see if they can do more later, than try and force us to stick with them even if the next incarnation turns out crappy.

And you know what? We dont have to here stupid Venom haters saying that he MADE a black suit for morning. GOD! I hated it when people said that. Now we know, it is the SYMBIOTE!
