Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread

I preferred the look of Avengers Thanos over the GotG version, but I'd take Brolin as the mad despotic galactic tyrant end game villain of a billion dollar movie series over a...... model.

It'd be cool if for future Blu-ray releases of the Avengers they inserted Brolin's Thanos into that scene

I actually prefer the GOTG look. Don't get me wrong, his look in "The Avengers" was just fine but I like what we have now a lot more. Seems more fitting for Thanos, especially with Brolin providing the voice.

I need a better look at the suit or some concept art, but his costume in GOTG kinda bothered me. I was cool with the actual character model, but the suit looked way too golden.

I actually liked that they went with the more golden look & took out the blue.

It just looks boring when it's all one color. Hopefully they add some blue and black for this one.

I just rewatched GotG, and I didn't really enjoy the voice. It's not exactly what I think when I think of Thanos. And the CGI will probably be fixed for Infinity War, hopefully using whatever motion capture technology they use with Ruffalo/Hulk.

I hope so. I'm a bit OCD about continuity. I'd also like them to refilm parts of Iron Man with Don Cheadle(even though I vastly preferred Terrence Howard), and refilm the John Slattery Howard Stark scene with Dominic Cooper in old age makeup. I know these things will never happen but I can dream

I think it all depends on the design of it, sometimes it can be boring when it's left to one color but in this case, I feel it works. But, everybody has different perspectives so it's all good.

In terms of the voice, I like it & don't really have any gripes with it. But, as good as I thought it was, I expect it to be even better when it comes time for the Infinity Wars movies.

Definitely, Brolin was calm and composed in his GOTG scene, wait until he gets to have scenes with Lady Death, or scenes where he outwits people. Brolin will kill it, just watch him as George Bush in W, he has charisma and acting range in spades, it's just that he just chooses the types of roles where he plays monotone loner characters, most of the time.

If it were up to me though, I would try and find a way to play with the voice to make it more booming as well as more refined and astute, if that makes sense. Brolin should really try and kick that southern drawl as well.

Oh yeah, he's definitely going to kill it. And what you're saying makes sense, it's kinda like what they did for Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger. He always changed his voice but they'd use vary speed to change it to be deeper & sound more ominous/monstrous. They'll likely do it with Thanos in his more larger appearances, though I doubt they'll lay it on too thick.

I really can't wait to see the scenes with Lady Death, that's going to blow my mind. And I'm glad that's an aspect they made sure to keep because it's what makes Thanos different. He's not just destroying the universe because he's nasty, he's doing it for a woman...constantly chasing her affection & never seeming to be able to grab it for long enough.

Btw, I just wanna add that the fact that I share the same first name with Josh Brolin makes me geek out a little bit. I have the same first name as Thanos. :D

The more I think about Thanos in the MCU the more I start to wonder who the hell they're gonna get to portray Death...

Any suggestions?

Yeah man, only the best choice. I've had her as my number 1 pick for years if Death was ever brought to screen. My pick is:

Eva-Green-31.jpg

Eva Green

It doesn't hurt that she already has previous chemistry with Brolin in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Dunno... the adult Death was mostly a mute character, with her child incarnation being the talker. Not to say Green couldn't pull it off the former, but it wouldn't be an effective use of her talent.

And when they finally recast RDJ, Evans and Hemsworth one day they can go and redo all the films for you.

Well, that shouldn't be a problem, Eva is a master at providing brilliant nuanced performances and has buckets of presence, so whether she talks or not, she'd kill it.

That said, there's still a way around it, Death can be a voice in Thanos' head, and she can speak to him telepathically, so there's all many ways around it.

Like I said, I don't doubt Eva's ability to kill it as a mute character, I just don't think it's an effective use of her talent.

It's not a logistical issue: the adult Death chooses not to speak to Thanos. It's an integral element of their relationship.

Yeah, I'd prefer that Eva play a character like Amora the Enchantress, or Hela, or even Madame Hydra. A role that can really let her cut loose and show her stuff.
