I wish they'd make a 48 Hours prequel

With all the prequels out there, I'd pay for a 48 Hours Prequel. No they couldn't use Eddie or Nolte but find some good unknowns and write us a good plot. Heck you could only feature one of those characters and it would be fine with me...either is interesting to hog the whole plot.

It's a action/comedy where Nick Nolte is a tough but honest cop and he has to team up with Eddie Murphy who is a con-man. Both it and Another 48 hrs were good for what they were.

Although a prequel is a bad idea IMO. The only thing that actually made the movies any good was the chemistry between Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte. If you're not having both of them in it, then you shouldn't even make the movie.

48 Hours is easily one of my favorite movies, and this would be absolutely horrible. A true bastardization.

Well if you're not gonna have the original actors or only have one of the characters and set it as a prequel, you might as well just make a new movie onto itself with no ties to 48 Hours since there wouldn't be much to connect to it.
