Alright. There's this big bru-ha-ha about these computers we rented from Dell that ****ed up and I've (or at least I think I have) convinced dad to get at least me a Mac...and if that happens I might just use it for film-making.

But I just want people's opinions: is the $2500+ worth it?

Hell yeah.
Which one are you getting?

Macs are worth every penny. I have the Macbook Pro that costs $2500 (which I'm assuming is what you'll get), and it rarely leaves my side.

Yes. Macs are awesome.

As for the butt-patting:

Assume the position! :cmad:

Yes completely worth...even if it's just to stop using Windows.

What do you mean "for this decision".
The Hype is about unconditional butt-patting.

Sorry...don't know yet. I'm going to window shop (can you do that online?)...but if anyone has any information about a specific Mac, gimme all the info so I can sort of think which one may be worth getting for my needs

You assume wrong...yet. Just gimme some info about it (all that you can) and I'll get back to you

This thread has some excellent information on why someone might consider a Mac:

Alright - I've come here...for a certain Mac.

I want a Mac that:
  • I can write screenplays and normal documents on
  • I can download and edit films from my camera
  • I can send emails from my old account (not my Hotmail account)
  • That can accept MP3s as well as JPGs and GIFs and PSDs
  • That can use The GIMP.
  • and Obviously use iTunes, and Quicktime on.

Anyone know of a Mac that suits my needs/wants?

Dude, any Mac, PC desktop or laptop would be able to that for you.

Yeah? Anyone?

So I just need to pick one that I like the look of and suits my room decor? lol

It's a Mac, I ain't getting another Windows PC, and I'm not getting a VAIO, or anything else like that - just a Mac

I'd love to help, but I'm apparently on your ignore list. Sorry. :oldrazz:

no...macs suck.Ive worked for them...they suck and the warrenty and support system is the worst on the market.

Do you want a portable or a desktop system? Do you have a price ceiling you need to stay under?

PhFFF!!! My Pc can do all that and its half the price! plus Macs don't even have 2 mouse buttons the person who invented that mouse must have had a few fingers missing! :p

Well I'd like to stay under $3000AU

And I really don't know if I want a laptop or desktop.

I think I would prefer the latter

For a desktop, I'd steer you towards the iMac unless you have some real need to go to the pro level desktops and then a Mac Pro would be the ticket. Probably overkill for what you're wanting to do, though. Take a look at the iMac selection on Apple's site and let me know if you have questions, but let's start there.
