For the teaser, they should make a newsreel-like trailer.

What do you think?

any more thoughts to expand that itinal newsreel thought?

how about a faux documentary about WWII. with old vets who tell stories about cap. they can be in little short ads. like "i remeber when we were pinned down by gunfire". insert any town name,"then the shooting stopped suddenly, and there he was". either show cap standing over some nazis or show his shield on his arm glisening in the sun

I want a trailer that starts out as a '40 newsreel with the '60s Cap cartoon playing (When Captain America throws his mighty sheeeild! All those who oppose his shield, must yieeeld!) & Cap punching Hitler, then it dissolves into "real life" where Cap is on Normandy. :D

I don't. The first teaser for Cap needs to show the GA that it's to be taken seriously. They can do the 60s cartoon in the movie itself but I wouldn't put in a trailer.

they could market this really well if they go with the history way

I think something like an old clip of soldiers like in the Normandy invasion or something landing and getting going into a WWII battle. The US troops are losing. All hope seems lost. Then, all of a sudden, someone is saved at the last second by a shield! He looks up, and sees Captain America!

Something like this I feel works best.

have troops in a foxhole who are pinned down there. they are getting their ass kicked. then have a slow mo shot of them looking up and a blackened out figure holding a shield, or blinded by the sun they can't make out the figure he jumps over them towards the enemy. and then they hear grunts and frantic gunfire then nothing.

I like the old news reel idea but I also like the faux documentary style testimonials as well. Get the GA intrigued by making people believe there was a man running around in costume during WWII called Captain America and the basis for the comics and serials.

I always envisioned a bunch of troops seizing an area and they have a number of troops backed into a room with the door closed, it gets real quiet then CAP comes out behind his shield deflecting gunfire.

I like it. The idea of an old news real. I think it'd work better as a TV spot though. For a trailer I think a really intense war scene, like the opening of Private Ryan, with a short, 2-3 second image of Cap at the end saving everyone would be better for a trailer. It all really depends on the movie though. How intense it is or what the movie's "image" is.

No, my idea would start out with a newsreel & then it would the music would fade out & then everything gets serious, US & British soldiers are getting their asses kicked on Normandy. You see one soldier crippled with a Nazi pointing a Luger at his head, then BAM a shield is thrown at the Nazi & then you see Cap.

I like that. End it without showing Cap though. Not fully, if its just a 'teaser trailer.' Just enough lighting from the gunfire to light up the star on the shield.

I like the showing of actual movie footage of Cap doing heroics for the trailers. The teasers would be more interesting to me if they were different than the usual short clips from the movie. The teasers should stand out from the rest of the pack and be unique.

My idea for a trailer is sort of inspired by the old Cap comic where he's punching Hitler in the face.

The trailer would start with a bunch of Nazi soldiers franticly running into a bunker or room. Some of them would be surrounding a higer ranking Nazi officer while the others were at the doorway shooting at an unseen threat. Then the soldiers by the door slam it shut and put a large board across it to barricade it shut. All of the Nazis in the room go quiet as they stare at the door with nervous anticipation and weapons drawn. Suddenly the door blasts open sending the Nazis at the door flying to the ground. When the dust starts to clear we see Cap standing in the rubble staring straight ahead. The camera cuts to the Nazi officer who's now freaking out and yelling and the other soldiers who raise the weapons and begin to shoot. Quickly cut back to Cap with him raising his shield to deflect the bullets and running straight at the camera. The screen cuts to black and the title "Captain America" flys onto the screen; followed by "The First Avenger" underneath with the releas date. (They did change the title to have Captain America first didn't they? If not just reverse the order I said.)

I guess that may be more of a regular trailer than a teaser but it's an idea I had.

The newsreel trailer is a great idea. It should start out with the footage, then slowly fade into the real footage.

It should ge people interested and excited. The footage should have minor glimpses of Cap. He shouldn't be seen completely.

I must just bump this since a teaser should be avaliable within the next two months or so and I hope it doesn't turn out like the Green lantern teaser.

So what would you want to see?

I'll be happy with some scenes of Steve beating up nazis, some shots of hydra agents on the bike, a bit of the origin scene, perhaps a voiceover from Doctor Erskine and I'ld love to see the quotes from historical figures similar to the comic con trailer.

I dont get all the hate for the GL trailer but nevermind thats for another thread.

I really hope we get a Cap trailer soon.

Start the trailer like you're watching a WWII movie...and then some freaky **** happens and you see a man walking (or running, riding, whatever) across the battlefield and you see a shield. A few quick cuts of superhhuman feats, and then Cap standing in full frame in front of the trailer. Cue classic epic trailer montage sequences for these kind of movies.

How to make this stand out from every other superhero movie made to date And that is exactly what the GL trailer was. Make people think it is a war movie, then confuse them...then show Captain America being a superhero in the midst of WWII. It will send the message that "This ain't your run of the mill superhero movie."

It would work much better than playing up any hint of camp, in my opinion.

Agreed. I loved the Marvel logo over the American flag. Add in images of Cap running ahead, past all the soldiers, taking bullets, charging the battlefield, throwing the shield, taking on tanks and a couple of explosions, and you've got a winner. Maybe even have Chris Evans do a voice over, all patriotic and stirring....

Also, I think the last scene of the trailer should be Hugo Weaving's accented voice saying something menacing, and then we see part of Red Skull's face (lower jaw???) and he's laughing evilly-- and then a quick cut scene to Cap throwing the shield directly at the screen with the release date finishing it out.

I posted this over in the 'Who is composing' thread, and at least for a teaser, might be pretty cool to see set with the music:

As silly as it sounds, this is the theme that actually pushed me to go see the new Star Trek movie, despite all my misgivings about it beforehand. It just made everything that much more Epic. I would love to see it used in a trailer for cap as well (or a similar theme) I imagine quick cuts and slow fades of story footage of WWII, Steve getting picked to be part of the project, shots of Erskine, Zola, and pre Skull Schmidt before the moment Steve gets the serum and a sound byte of him being told it could be fatal. Cut to black and right around where the music picks back up again(1:30ish in the video) show Cap (somewhat obscured by smoke) bounding across the battlefield, reminiscent of that scene in superman returns where young Clark is leaping across the screen (only, y'know, less exagerrated, but still impressive by human standards). then a bunch of teasing action and character shots before the end where they show Skull finding the Cube. movie title. End with the shot of Cap throwing the shield. (or doing something ridiculously impressive like stopping a tank shell)
I'd get goosebumps if that were set to this theme. When I saw it used for Star Trek I got the whole "can't wait to see it now" vibe.

I see it going like this...

It starts with a black screen. We hear the distinct voice of Samuel L. Jackson (as Fury) and he is asking someone a question. "What exactly did your father tell you about 'Operation Re-birth'?" we then introduce the marvel logo.... We hear RDJ as Stark reply, "nothing really... we weren't that close."

We see a close up of Sam Jackson as he leans in and says..."What I'm about to tell you is extremely classified information. During WWII the SHIELD developed a formula to create the perfect human, a super soldier so to speak, out of a man that wasn't fit enough to enlist. This process was never documented and ultimately lost forever. This formula was tested successfully only once. That soldier was Captain America."

Sam Jackson activates a screen with old war time footage of Captain America kickin some Ass!!

"He helped us turn the tide of the war and ultimately defeat the Nazis"

Stark: "I've heard the legends... I thought they were just that... legend."

Fury: "The man was a legend, a living legend."

Stark: "If this guy was for real, what happened to him?"

Fade Captain America Logo and the release date.

*Marvel Logo*

Soldier at Front Desk: Sorry kid, you dont meet any of the physical requirements. *Rogers walks out of the building and crumples up his registration forms.*

Col. Chester Phillips: Son...what if I told you that you were exactly what we need?

Flash forward to labratory

Rogers: What is this?!?!?!?

Phillips: Project Rebirth, we're aiming to take youngsters like you and make them a force to be reckoned with.

*Shows the transformation*

Black Screen

Soldier on Battlefield: We're being hit *soldiers scattering around battlefield*

Rogers: You have to let me go, I can help them

Phillips: Son, you're a valuable asset and we can't risk putting you in harms way

Rogers: Well maybe I'll put myself in harms way.........for my country

*Hydra Tank starts firing and we see a glimpse of Cap deflecting the round, the deflected round hits a nearby Hydra tower with snipers*

Soldier#1: Who is that??

Soldier#2: Lookin at his suit, Im gonna say he's on our side

Red Skull: Whatever he is, we cannot allow him to interfere with our plans

*Quick glimpse of Arnim Zola*

*brief shots of Cap fighting soldier*

*Title*

the last scene shows Cap running throw the battlefield with explosions going off behind him, a round explodes in front of him and we see him flip through the fire and throw his shield at the screen

IMO id like to see a trailer with no dialouge, just action like saving private ryan with a little girl singing "My country tis of thee" playing over the action, then the title..after the title it cuts to a scared german soldier shaking looking aorund and cutting back and forth between him and caps boots hauling ass running up a hill, then just as he turns around cap jumps up and you just see shield connect with this guys face and screen goes black just as you hear the ungodly metal "CLANK" against the guys teeth..then the release date
